Re: Help needed to identify it device
I've added a couple more pics. On the left side (on the end where the ptc port is, there is the two small holes with recessed LEDs (1 x red, 1 x green)and a strip sticker saying 'Serial No 00-50-C2-2D-72-F4'. The 'F4' at the end has been added with a biro...
There are a couple of stickers underneath as can be seen in the pic but the other sides are all blank... I asked around at work as I work in an IT department and colleagues in desktop support, network support and tech support weren't sure what it was... Suggestions included some sort of communications pass through or even a jetdirect type box for a serial printer to be added to a network? |

Re: Help needed to identify it device
Looks like a tracker modem to me, basically you dial into it - via the RS232 port and then you connect to a network via the IP Port.
It gives you remote access to IP networks. |
Re: Help needed to identify it device
Im thinking some kind of printer control box. I used to have a US Robotics one which looked similiar.

Re: Help needed to identify it device
Interesting thoughts, cheers everyone. That idea about it being used to get a device on a network with a serial connection. I actually have a microwave that can go online with a com port through a pc. I may try connecting it to my network and try some default ips to see if it has a web interface or something.

I think the key is to find out about the PTC port - all will (should) become clear!
