Heh, just read this article...

Vista, the five year old's OS

Apparently Mac owners can have a sense of humour after all :D

Mmmmmmmm........

Mac user showing smug superiority - so rare.

The problem is that a lot of PC users are the equivalent of "five year olds", and I don't mean that in a derogatory manner. It's like me and cars - get in, turn the key, it goes! I can fill up petrol, water, windscreen washer, tyres - other than that, someone else does it.

It's the way PC's should be - plug and play, not plug and pray!

exactly the points ive been making for ages and ages :)
The pc is for the general user who wants an easy life and access to everything easily installed
The Mac user likes to spend a lot of money on something thats prestigious only now with Intel chips the only difference is OS
The Linux user is the hobbyist who has spent time and has an interest in code. These operating systems ARE NOT suitable for the average user full stop no argument and any given is pure BS. Im an efficient user of a computer but I cant use Linux

TBH im getting totally bored of having to say the same thing over and over again. Mac users love there computers and fair play and Linux users love there computers and love the operating systems. Pc users have it easy. We all have place each system has its benefits for its users but stop trying to get others to change.Ive always said each to there own and ive always argued that Nix isnt suitable for Joe user and no matter what arguement im faced with each and every time im not proven wrong in any of them!!!! :)

Slightly off topic but still interesting never-the-less...

Do you all realise Microsoft has completely re-written the networking stack for Vista ditching a lot of the code which they have been patching (for good reason) since '95...

I think this should be more of a concern than the Kernel-Level scanning tbh...

Beta versions of Vista were susceptible to the 95 self targeted spoofed ip BSOD infinite loop... Errm now that was not very clever M!cro$oft

I'm a windows and Linux user, and used to have a Mac before these systems. I like them all, for different reasons. Anyway, do you remember the first time you used Windows, you had to learn it, the same goes for Linux - indeed Ubuntu is amazingly easy to use, and has some features that are really handy - a simple one is a tabbed text editor called gedit. I do admit there are difficulties, but mainly due to companies not willing to release Linux drivers for their products, Canon is one - but I bet their servers are running Linux - O the irony.

In my opinion people should know more about their systems, and the problems and issues that can occur, especially with personal data being stored on Hard Drives these days. So yes Windows is 'easier' in some ways, but Linux and Macs are in others.

With respect to Linux, especially platforms like Ubuntu, the support is always increasing, and the platform becoming easier to use. IMO it will only be time before Linux distros become a more convenient platform- they are really not that far away :)

Will Vista be any more secure, I'm not sure, what I do know is it will still be the most targeted by malware writers, as it will be the most popular platform

As a mac user myself, I am embarassed he felt the need to take the p*ss out of Microsoft for slightly over doing the security.
