Re: Are my MIPS right?
SiSoft Sandra is an excellent programme for finding out everything there is to know about the insides of your PC. Amongst other things, it has two CPU benchmarks, a memory benchmark and a HD benchmark. You can also compare the results with similar spec'd components.
Try it now! |
Re: Are my MIPS right?
Well I'm more than a bit tired and read "MIPS" as "NIPS" and was wondering what danielf was doing messing around with clothes pegs - doesn't seem the type to me but hey  Now I'm reading with interest in the hopes of working out what a "MIP" is :erm:

On topic: I had another dabble, and decided to switch to the home/office desk power saving scheme rather than laptop scheme in power saving options. (I had only switched off the monitor/disk hibernate options earlier). Using the desktop scheme increases the MIPS score to 6500 which is comparable to similarly specced systems. Nice... (Now what shall I do with my newly found MIPS :D ) |
Re: Are my MIPS right?
There's an argument that power saving is pointless because the process of powering down and powering up shortens the life-span of the hardware. I always switch off power saving features because they nearly always cause problems. Like AV software.

Re: Are my MIPS right?
You could always try BOINC just to see what the MIPS are from the processor.
