Because he's very Christian and believes that homosexuality is literally the devils spawn (or something like that). Of course, religion is all forgiving and tolerant - as long as you agree with what the bible says. :)

Because I don't want my children growing up thinking that same-sex couples having children is natural. People will bleat on about "as long as they love the child then it doesn't matter" but then again they are usually incredibly naive or have no children of their own as being a parent is about far more than that.
