Too right when you have been doing this job for 5 years from dialup to SACM and STB I think I know what I'm talking about. The idea is to keep it as simple as possible for customers because all they want to do is get on t'internet. The majority are not interested in config files or temp IP addresses they just want to mail their friends or shop online.

Darkcloud's original post was for a new modem maybe he'll be lucky and get one of the new 250's if he orders one from Sales. And you're right to advise him not to get an Ebay job!

The reg process on there is for a Motorola same process but having helped a neighbour to reg a 250 a couple of weeks ago there's no need to power down the modem just let the modem reboot when you see the onscreen prompt.

I came on here to help and if my experience in the job helps then I've got no problem doing my bit.
