Hello,

erm.. i had a problem like this a while back, i got pings on 200 odd in games like NS and Counter strike source

i foudn the problem to be at my end (sorry NTL dislikers)

i found the problem to be my security package, Mcafee

i have spam killer, the lot installed in my pc protecting me, i got rid of those processes and found every thing went back to the norm

Do you have Mcafee and all of its services?

Re: Gaming in Manchster area

although there is a massive improvment, it still jumps up to 60, sometimes 100ms in peak times :(

I'm still getting kicked from Medal of Honour, ping is usually very good, then with no warning goes into major lag before "connection to server timed out message"

Very frustration, happens at least once a session

Hi I'm new here so go easy on me....

just registered and thought I'd do a search so I wasn't posting for the 2449th time about a problem ;)

I'm in the Manchester area and have been having major problems with ping spikes / lag etc. First started back in Nov, after many phonecalls/emails I eventually ended up speaking to the head of tech support who told me there was an overloaded server in the area and they would switch me to a less busy one. That seemed to sort the problem until about 2/3 weeks ago when it resurfaced. I've tried emailing tech support again but had no response yet  Is there anything I can do to help the situation? The main reason I have the connection is for gaming, but it's impossible to play any kind of FPS :td::mad:

Re: Gaming in Manchster area

strange thing is, pings are excellent right up to the moment it goes tits up and kicks you.

Connection is gone completely so you come out of the game. reboot the router, run traceroute or whatever, and pings are fine again???

Whats all that about then???
