Chrysalis, you dont have the same problem as Glitch. Look here instead: http://forum.nthellworld.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4983.

Glitch has a problem because of the router. The Installer is trying to renew the computers ip address from a pre-reg to a registered IP. Obviously this iant going to happen because the pc gets its IP from the router.

Don't you have to clone the MAC address of the cable modem first?

Um, we've linked to the same thread....or was that what the "doh" was about? Nevermind it's all good :p

Anyway - if he's getting a 169 when the router is attached then there's something definitely amiss comms-wise on the PC as it should at the very least be 192.x.x.x - if it is a router.

Might be an idea to miss out the router altogether to test it out. Also, when using a router - if you get a problem with the connection and start getting an iffy IP try rebooting everything in order = All off, modem on (wait for it to lock on) then turn the router on and then turn the pc on.
