Re: Buying CD-R's off the Internet
Yes I've tried a few brands, from the cheapest right up to HHB Professional ones. It's quite a well known issue, particularly on in-car players that are a few years old or more.
It's not a problem on my home player as this supports CD-R and CD-RW. The problem is, as I understand it, that the power required to read the smaller pits in an 80 minute disc is slightly greater, this is where the problem comes in for car players. It doesn't really make any difference burning less on to an 80 min disc, as the pits are the same size as a full one. Saying that, you do tend to find issues with many brands for the last few minutes of a recording, but most CD players will read up to that point if not beyond - so yes quality of disc is important for that. I've even resorted to eBay now for my 74 min discs...LOL |
Re: Buying CD-R's off the Internet
My local supermarket has 74 min CDs... and in fact, I even saw some at PC World when I last went there (not that I go there regularly, but I was after a laptop bag, and thought that even they wouldn't be able to mess up that! ;))

Re: Buying CD-R's off the Internet
DRAwe is right - the after sales for SVP is excellent, as is their pre-sales service. I can highly recommend them.
They even helped me once when I was living abroad by suggesting one of their competitors when they were unable to deliver to France (think that's changed now and they serve all of the EU) instead of pushing for me to order through them and get my order delivered to a UK address and then shipped over to France afterwards. Highly recommended! |
