Nobody is saying that at all what is being said is that some children are vulnerable to abuse. No more no less.

If parents taking a more active interest in their kids as a result saves just one child all this reporting will have been worth it.

If a few "lads" cant access the porn sites as readily as they can now as a result or have to stop hiding away in darkened rooms surfing all night, sorry I wont lose any sleep, and to be honest neither will they.

I let my kids on the net unsupervised. But, they are 'net savey'.

They don't use chatrooms at all. If they want to chat to their friends it's done through MSN or Yahoo.

I like giving my kids the freedom on the net and they like me for it.

BTW, I have adult sites blocked by my firewall, but I doubt my kids would be looking for it.
I also have a log of all the sites they have been to and all conversations over MSN / Yahoo. The understanding is that I won't ever read them until I have fair reason to.

Kids can be perfectly safe on the internet as long as they see it as being outside in a park but blindfolded. Anyone you talk to could potentialy grab you and run away.
OK, on the net it's not as easy to grab, but the ease of deception kinda balances things out.
That's how I explained it to my kids and they have a damn good understanding of it.

i understand where your coming from but the fact remains the way the media push the stories it seems to me that that there are delibrate scare tatics in use disguised as information

as for your last paragraph a typical comment from adults who dont fully understand what they media are trying to do and look in to those thoughts :rolleyes:
