Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
These bloody drivers are taking the mick.
I must have jinxed myself by viewing this thread earlier because I got home, put a DVD on and all the sounds apart from the music were almost inaudible. I checked my speaker settings and guess what? The speaker selection box was blank, again. :grind: Now to uninstall/reinstall.. |
Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
You sure something else isnt screwing with it Rich?
Try what i suggested and use the US update site. |
Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
I am, same drivers as before.
I don't understand how they can magically **** up on their own. It worked this morning but I get home from work and it doesn't...PC's been on all day as usual too so there's nothing during a bootup that could change it. |
Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
Sounds strange i have to admit - but check this out for a laff to cheer you up - i put the following into google to see what else has shown up related to this problem,
control panel audio speaker audigy zs blank problem Clicked on a link about 5 down - not really reading the title just teh bit that says Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems, and THIS thread pops up on Cableforum... Doh! Bit too specific on the google there. :D |

Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
BTW in your registry what does it say under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Multimedia\So und Mapper\Playback For my system it shows the correct Device as it appears in Sounds and Audio devices. |
Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
Yeah, it's my sound card.
It still plays stuff, listening to mp3s is fine. I guess I'll just have to routinely uninstall/install from now on... |
Re: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro problems
it's a long shot, but try re-installing direct x

I think that chances are that you might have a "blank" device in there from a previous installation that has got corrupted. Perhaps the next time you uninstall a good regclean might help. |
