well I would like to list all sites here that are out of reach for me but am worried if this would be considered spam.

Its different gateways and different areas of the country - Its completely random as far as I can see. It must be a core router that is causing the problem !

Hmmmm - its not a transatlantic link problem then.....

I know that justanothernoob has very kindly been looking into this. I am sure he will let us know when it has been fixed :)

It looks as if it may be an issue with the Nottingham core routers - JAN is still looking into it for us (with a hammer in his hand to apply the fix ;))

Thats fine if you installed something like a php script on your sites for uploading files via http before this issue but I normally ftp, however I think I may do just that as a work around in case this hapens again.

yeah I knew this 2 days ago, my ssl/ssh site is in denmark, I got 1 site in usa as well and the one in the uk as well as the other site in that sig, I gave justanothernoob all the details I got for the 3 site's in question so hopefulyl it will help him track the problem down.

as I discovered the uk site later, he hasnt got the uk site url, but he has the denmark so he will know its not location specific.

I'm very sorry all for the issues you are experiencing. It's not going to be resolved by a 'quick fix' :(
This should be fixed early hours of Tuesday morning during maintenance period. Please post on here some more if you are still experiencing issues after 6am Tuesday morning, and sorry again for the obvious inconvenience. Inevitably with a network the size of ntl's there are issues, some easily fixed, some not so easily.
Again apologies to all affected those experiencing browsing issues only to sites mentioned here may be able to resolve them by specifying caches outside of Nottingham PoP, those trying to run other services may be able to resolve them by specifying proxies for those services outside of Nottingham PoP. :(

I can understand your frustration m8 but - PLEASE dont take it out on Justanothernoob. He does not have to take it and can easily tell you sod off and not bother trying to help.

Yes its a crapy situation but its not his fault. He is only trying to help. Our anger should be vented at NTL not Justanothernoob.

If Justanothernoob had not bothered to check into it I can garentee that the problem would get resolved for months !!!

I'm not taking it out on Justanothernoob, not in the least.

I am just amazed that a known problem can be just set aside till a more convenient time.

I cant send/receive email, I cant update any of my sites, I cant update anything on my server, and I'm about ready to burst with frustration.

If anyone can tell me how to set up Outlook, Terminal Services and SmartFTP to use a proxy then I would really appreciate it.

I'm not saying that will work by the way, I'm suggesting it as a course of action, please don't take as gospel that it will work, nor that the same issues will be experienced connecting to proxy. Sorry guys.

I can possibly help out a small number with the problem by setting up some port forwards via one of my servers.

To do this I would need ;

1. Your IP
2. The IP and port you need to connect to.

I can then set up a forward on my server and give you a temporary IP and port - you then connect to these and the packets are forwarded to your real server - note that I cannot handle large amounts of traffic - no multi MB file transfers please.

Of course, we would need to test that you can see my forwarding server in the first place, but since I can, you probably can.

I cannot do this until late tonight though as I am in Welwyn Garden City atm, and won't be home until later.

PM me if you would like to try this - first come first served etc ......

Does anyone still have the problems. I can connect with no problems to all of the sites listed. Strangely I can get to the web based sites even when I use a Notingham based proxy :confused:

I am not all that 'Techy' so not sure if my problem is same as yours although the post i have replied to, does point to this one as a similar probable cause!!

I have called NTL just about every night since Monday regarding my problem and although everyone has tried to be helpful we have gone over and over the same ground ... Checking my pc, Internet options, Security, fire wall etc etc ..

Finally tonight i am put through to a 'manager' whom i again go thru all the details about login issues etc etc His advice was that although he is not 100% confident this will 'cure' my problem there is some maintenance arranged that could resolve the issues i am experiencing ... (as mentioned by JAN) Unfortunately the maintenance for Leicester area is not planned untill weds midnight - thursday 6am and not by Tues 6am!!

Therefore my reason for post is to basically say dont expect to be up and running at 6am on Tuesday morning ...


Like i said it may be a completely different issue i have and you will be all fixed and up and running this time tomorrow. Tbh i hope you are but as i am NOOB to your boards thought i would at least relay the message i have recieved.

sorry I not replied until now because my psu died so I had to build another box from old parts to use until the new psu arrives, I did try my ssl site on tues and it was working so I assumed the fix happened, but I can't say if it did, now its thursday anyway so it should have defenitly taken place by now, I hope your problem was resolved as well. I expect it was the same issue causing both problems.
