Having said that I have just received the email from NTL home about this email maintenance. So it's going to be no email from Monday nights from 11pm until 7am tuesdays. For a month. Lets hope this works at the end of the month. :) :(

Maybe I'm misreading the email, but I think its saying that the initial phase would involve the overnight unavailability (which it did), but that the ongoing work would be for shorter periods and that these would still be kept to off-peak times to reduce the impact on users.

What this sounds like to me is that the major update on the equipment itself happened at the start during the overnight shut down but updating software and "tweaking" the system would take a further 4 weeks to complete.

Anyone in the know able to confirm if this interpretation of the email is correct?

There's something beautifully ironic about sending this message to customers via the system which doesn't work properly yet.

I've had three of those emails - at first I thought they were sent to my three different email addresses but they all were sent to the same one!

Excellent - email received from ntl in last hour (appears very similar to the ones described above) ells me that email will be cut off Monmday night to Tues Mornings for 4 weeks from 16th Feb. Note the date I posted this, as I received it. Very clever ntl.

PS. Why then has my email stopped working at this moment in time?

The email doesn't say it will be down Monday to Tuesday each week for 4 weeks

Main update was the overnight one earlier this week which applied to everyone but in addition for the next 4 weeks there will be odd times when the system will be down for some people but not all at the same time.

I would assume this is about tweaking the new equipment and possibly updating the software too but that is just a guess.
