Been looking at jazzing my desktop up a bit and am very impressed with some of those I've seen here, particularly Paul's. Could anyone tell me how the Windows taskbar has been customised, oh, and the little calender thingy, oh and the large icons at the top? Here's mine at present - a pic of Norwich in the snow.

The calendar is Rainlendar...do a Google for the "Moderna" skin - much better than the default. To change your taskbar, download this if you're using XP SP1. A good place to start looking for themes is themexp.org, but there are other places. If you're not using XP then someone else will have to help here.

For the large icons at the top you'll need to download Objectdock, and find yourself either some .pngs or large icons to use.

As for places to look, Design Technika (especially the forums) is a great place to start. Not only will you find some things you're looking for, you'll also find links to other sites that can help.

Sure is, I've started putting a gallery up at http://www.se-an.co.uk/gallery (probably get in trouble for hawking it), had to resize and compress all the images though to save on bandwidth.

nope but it was easier to link to the picture on my site rather dig through the files on my computer to find where it is saved and upload it! The wallpaper version is cropped so it fits on my standard 14" 1400 x 1050 laptop screen in nice proportions :)

I hate Windows so much, whenever I try to change my back-ground it comes up saying about some .dll causing a fatal error and needs to close. When ever I try it again it just closes without changing the back-ground. :grind:

I wish I could install RedHat on here with XP :(

Restarted my PC, and got the same error again. This time I took a screeny of it.

EDIT: I think I might need to do a format, for some reason the Windows shell keeps crashing, so then I have to restart a load of programs so I can see them in the task bar. Anything I could do other than a format?

You could try the sfc utility.

start/run then type sfc /scannow

you will need the XP CD in the drive.
It will take a while.

post back if that does not fix.

try again, it should put the comm prompt up then another box.

Heres is One of my machines desktop (Shuttle machine) - in case your wondering, the bar at the top is ObjectDock and Im using WindowsBlinds for the look. No i dont like Apples :)

hey all,

ok well here is the desktop for one of the pcs i have here at home. the picture is actually a gif of me firing a lightning bolt,and then the guy on the right's hand waving up and down. the heads at the bottom wobble as well...its a great distraction when i am doing coursework and so on!!!! :)

Lol, just a clip of old Pamela Anderson from Frank Skinner, nothing naughty :) As for Evil Lyrics...someone posted that on here a while back. It just automatically downoads the lyrics for the current song playing in Winamp etc.

Here is my desktop the theme is one from themexp.org and I dont use any program just a modded uxtheme.dll file from neowin.com which works wonders for me.
