Indeed !

There have been so called financial schemes in the past, that have the intention of bringing in extra revenue. I seem to remember one such "bond" scheme at upton park, which fell flat on it's face. ;)

Tbh that didn't put the club in debt, it was just a crude way to extract every last penny from the fans, I remember being part of the demonstrations, only to go home to find my mother had bought one :dozey:  :D

Who cares how he does it, it's a good result for Villa. A win would've been nicer, but I'll settle for a draw against Arsenal :)

Hang on, wasn't it you or some other dilusional arsenal supporter telling us how each home game would be sold out for the rest of the season?

after seeing it on match of the day, i'm a little confused:

1. how does graham poll get to ref matches these days anyway?
and
2. after hearing rob styles's comments on the "penalty", i swear juve got relegated, got points deducted, lost extremely talented players(and zlatan), lost their reputation, lost the chance to bring more revenue into the club(etc. etc. etc.) for bringing in officials they wanted for matches. liverpool were probably smarter in how they managed it tho...

yes, it's mindless ranting :) (except for the zlatan comment) but it's refs like that idiot styles that ruin some good games

Fair play to them you can only beat the opposition in front of you, however on a cautionary note, I think Fulham have one of the poorest teams in the division and will probably be relegated.

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season

I actually don't care about the result though I watched the match. Top priority has to be promotion, if less games from no cup runs lessens the tiredness of the squad, long term that has to be more important.

We already have Tyson out for 4 months, it's best we stick to the league routine, and avoid more key players out.

At the end of the day we will not win the League Cup, we do have a chance of going up, it's a case of priorities and the cups have to be low down in that.

Not a bad start at all - as you say, it was a great result against Arsenal. From the sound of it, it really shouldn't have been a penalty for our first goal last night, but sometimes it all turns on a single piece of luck. Our main problem last year was not beating the teams below us (although, by the end of the season, there weren't that many of them :disturbd: ), so it shows that we've at least turned a small corner :)

I would point out that Middlesborough last beat Pompey in 1994. And in the Premiership we have drawn at their ground and beaten them at fratton.;) Now of course beaten them on their own ground

However........

statements like this make me very suspicious, surely this isn't a cheap ploy to boost ticket sales, from Arsenal fans wanting to get a first look at a prospective new signing. :naughty:

I've seen that on the BBC site to, I suspect they want him to replace Rayes either way its not really on to be informing the press of their interest without actually having made a bid.

this is what i can't understand about United at the moment

we spend 18M on Carrick.. still paying over the odds for players even though Kenyon has gone

we were going to spend over 10m on Hargreaves :Yikes:

yes even though we need a striker as we only have two and Saha is bound to get injured soon and Rooney will prob get another ban at some point we won't buy Teves or Torres

Teves has even alked out of his club as we can get him dirt cheap yes we won't go in for him.. could be another target going away.. would rather have him than Treveguet

the first few games has flattered us abit but it showed against Watford we still short of fire power and didn't really kill them off like we should have

Tevez and Torres are to similar to Rooney imo, as for paying over the odds Senna is just as capable as Hargreaves yet cost's 10 million less, I saw an article on Saturday I believe, that said the new sponsors were putting pressure on United to buy British players, I am not sure how much truth there is to that and I can't remember where I saw it. I think you need another striker to Saha is not consistent enough.

that was in the sun.. saying said the United move is off now.. not too sure about him either though.. he's 30 and in 10 seasons one was good all the others weren't so more like a one season wonder

Saha will only get 20 goals if he is lucky, and plays the whole season, which i doubt

Rooney will get 20 odd but will get frustrated being relied on for all the goals and prob get sent off at some point

Ole just isn't the same player since the injury and don't think he will get more than 10.. if that.

Rossi is a great talent but he can't be relied on enough yet as he's too young

Awww, is that the best you can do?

Did you miss the games in the World Cup where he was one of England's best players on the day?

Funnily enough I thought I was stating fact when I said that the Welsh players were on the whole of Championship standard.

As for claiming he was England's best player during the World Cup I doubt that is an honour any of the squad want and besides it is better to base players ability over time rather than on half a dozen games, from what the footballing public have so far seen very few would try to justify his talent as worth between 13- 17 million, even in Germany it has been reported that he is seen as a good squad player, are British teams in the habit of paying this much for someone seen as a squad player?

Spurs have signed Mido after his loan spell last season. Should give Spurs some much needed fire power.

Hargreaves is a good player. Not many people in the UK get to see the bundesliga so he was getting judged on 20 odd minutes with England.

After all, if he was that average, you would have thought Bayern would be jumping at the chance to offload him for £10+ Mill

Seems little subtlety can be a bit too subtle for some ;)

Had I referred to him as England's best player in the World Cup then maybe you'd have a point

Not my words it was written in the paper on Saturday, that he is classed as an average player at Bayern, I don't know why they don't want to sell him 13- 17 million is a hell of a lot for him

Not enough imo

I just hope the FA do more, like an eight months ban plus a hefty fine.

<sarcastic mode on>
But then I suppose if it was the club from across the town, it would be an eight months ban plus a hefty fine.
<sarcastic mode off>

It will be interesting to see what the FA will impose upon Thatcher.

I seem to remember seeing that they wanted to send him on an anger management course ;) :D

Rossi is going to Newcastle on loan, does this mean another striker coming in?

Hmmm interesting......
It's either that or Smith is making a speedy recovery.
We will find out tomorrow, what time is the transfer deadline ?
