Sorry Homer.I hope in time you can accept that your father is no longer in pain or distress and you can remember him as the happy parent who played a part in your growth to maturity.

Sorry for your loss Homer. I went through a shorter period with my Brother last year. Its never easy. At least he is no longer suffering and in a better place.

We booked the funeral yesterday, initially the the burial place wanted £1,500 to use a JCB to dig the hole, but as my dad was a big guy they want another £650.

My sister and I are fuming, but nothing we can do, so thats cost us £6,500.

He will be buried with my mum on the 30th.

I'd have been tempted to dig it myself at that price! I hope the funeral and burial go as well as possible for you and your sister.

Going through the fun of changing the bills from my dad to mine.

Hopefully I'll save some money.

Last to do is Virgin Media, I'm going to drop Sports, Movies & Kids, and try and keep Netflix. Hopefully it will be cheaper than the £149 pm we currently pay.

Make yourself a 'new' customer if the account was in your Dad's name. That's where the best deals are.

If you're not working, worth considering some of these deals. https://www.virginmedia.com/broadban...ncome-families

That is a good point. VM don't promote it, but you can get BB for £20 amonth (no contract), if anyone in the house is on benefits.

Better still, get an existing Virgin customer to 'recommend' you and you'll both get something extra.

Re: Nightmare of a night

Well on Friday the 30th of September I laid my father to rest.

My nephew and niece wrote some lovely words, and my sister wrote some stuff, thanking me for looking after our dad.

After the family went back to my sisters for a drink and food, we bought it in to save the agro and my sisters friend Emma helped in setting it up and ensuring that tea/coffee was on tap and she even cleaned up as she went along.

The start of the day for me was a nightmare as my hamster managed to escape, but later I saw him mooching about the living-room floor, and my I popped home with my nephew and niece and got him back in his cage.
