It's likely to be raining cats and dogs for the Austrian GP #2 qualifying session, if it gets cancelled then qualifying will take place Sunday morning, if this also gets cancelled then Free Practice 2 gets used to set the grid.

---------- Post added at 11:47 ---------- Previous post was at 11:44 ----------

Free Practice 3 has been cancelled, rain being removed from the roof of Mclarens hospitality zone.

I see Verstappen went around the outside on turn 4 to overtake Bottas and used all the space to get past which included using the kurb. Something Albon should have done last week and the reason why it should have been a racing incident.

I get the impression the Racing Point controversy isn't going away. Noted that the commentary team from Barcelona kept referring to the car as the 2019 Mercedes. RBR are thought to still be looking at launching further disputes.

Also not noted here yet but likely heard about, Leclerc drove at least 2 laps without a seat belt on, unsure if it was off before he spun off. Not sure how this had been ignored or whether anything is coming from it. Big fan, promising star but he's made some fairly poor decisions in the last few weeks.

Verstappen reminds me of a young Hamilton, outperforming Bottas in a slower car on paper. Hamtilon is two levels above anyone else on the grid but Verstappen is a future world champion of the sport. I struggle to see a top team dumping Hamilton until he falls off a cliff edge though. Comparisons and era's aside, he's one of the fastest drivers to ever grace the sport. Tyre management was definitely on the agenda for the first half of the Barcelona track but when it became clear he was in the clear he just pulled off and there's not a thing you can do about it.

The award isn't just for sporting achievements.

The Panel will select a shortlist of sportspeople for the main award on the basis of the following criteria:

- Reflects UK sporting achievements on the national and/or international stage;
- Represents the breadth and depth of UK sports; and
= Takes into account 'impact' of the person's sporting achievement beyond the sport in question.

Sportspeople are eligible to be nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award if they are UK citizens or all of the following criteria apply:

- they play a significant amount of their sport in the UK; and
- their core achievements that year were achieved in the UK, and not with a non-UK based team (in which case they would more likely qualify for the World Sport Star award); and
- they are residents in the UK.
btw, I agree with you, and think Hamilton should get the award - however, he won it previously in 2014, but that shouldn't make a difference, as Henry Cooper, Damon Hill, and Nigel Mansell won it twice (and Andy Murray three times).

If LH doesn't win SPOTY he definitely should get it next year when he get number 8.

I mean there is no real opposition, their car just couldn't turn the tyres on a brand new tarmaced track in Turkey and yet they still won.

Sky sports is asking fans to nominate the medical car that followed as driver of the day.

Yes in my view.

It is a testement to the safety introduced to the cars that he was able to walk away with what appear to be minimal injuries.

The name lives on as Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael, has signed to race for Haas next season.
