No package news available for La Liga TV via Virgin Media UK yet but I would think it will be free to anyone who got Premier Sports in (I am one).

But you may also can get La Liga TV on it own for £5.99 per month (Been confirmed for Sky Viewers).

I think this will happen:

Sky Two > Sky Drama
SYFY > Sky Action (SYFY broadcasts Action series right now)

I can easily see Sky2 being repurposed given that the repeats it currently shows can be easily redistributed across the broader portfolio.

Would they get rid of SYFY in the short term though? They are acquiring new shows for it (Blood & Treasure and Twilight Zone) as well as using it for Westworld repeats... plus like E!, it’s still a brand used across the NBCU footprint so does make me wonder if it may still have some life in it in the short to medium term.

Neither can I re: SyFy. The US version commissions their own shows and puts the branding on the start of them, so the SyFy branding would still be present. Sky1 shows more "action" shows than SyFy, but it's been around so long I can't see it disappearing any time soon.

Sky2 is a gonner though. I wouldn't even be that surprised if Witness was rebranded again.

Look like La Liga TV will launch tomorrow (January 13th) after all Media Boy HQ has just found that Virgin Media are testing the EPG up until 0.01am tonight with "Coming Soon".

We feel La Liga TV will launch just after midnight on Virgin UK Channel 554.

I see that Virgin Media IS still using 5Spike old slot on CO31 - But is broadcasting Paramount Network.

I am starting to think Virgin Media will start using 5Spike for Paramount Network +1 and it will launch on the rumoured January 27th launch date on Virgin Channel 188.

Not appearing on my v6 boxes.

Also that link says it is a premium channel, however I was under the impression it was free for the first 2 weeks?

I am able to view LaLigaTV on my sky box (minimal sub)

Why is Virgin always lagging behind?

I keep laughing at the “no extra charge” tag line. Previously you watched la liga on premier sports at a cost per month. Now they’re moving the matches to a different channel ... you’re still paying a tenner mind

I don't think UHD TVs come in less than 40" screens - however if your old one is that old it is likely to have a large border compared to modern ones, so the overall size won't be much bigger just the viewable part of the screen.

With no listings being shown for the Sky Comedy channels.

So keep an eye on JJ20X over on Forum Box for news on tests appearing for

Sky Comedy
Sky Comedy HD
Sky Comedy +1

Base on other tests they will appear sometime by Thursday we say early next week (Monday or Tuesday).

I would think that although the listings state ‘no longer available’ on the day it would just be a simple name change/rebrand and the schedule going forward being updated on the day as well as all config will be the same as well as the source feed.

I would doubt that they would do any testing in advance

Since the start of 2020 Virgin Media UK has started to test channels in the new way.

MTV Classic was testing when VH1 was broadcasting with VH1 listing saying "no longer available" after January 7th. But we now know that MTV Classic appeared on the same channel number on that date.

I'd imagine many thought it would work like the 5Spike/Paramount change , in that 5Spike shows/schedule started showing in the schedule for Paramount if you scrolled to (and past) the change date.

Given it's not showing, the next guess would be it wasn't using the same space on the network, hence the test bit.

Good point, I stand corrected, although MTV Classic was an existing channel beforehand whereas Sky Comedy doesn't exist as the moment and it will be taking over everything from Universal Channel on any network that it is on.

I agree with rebranding the Fox channels and removing the "Fox" from Searchlight to separate them from the other Fox TV companies. But I would keep the full "20th Century Fox" brand as it has a lot of movie-making heritage and seems quite distinct from Fox TV.

Exactly when I am expecting it. It happened before with the HD when we got that so makes sense to hold onto it for another few months exclusively.

With the little I have seen with VAR I'm happy to stay down another season until they sort all that out

Due to the way Disney has been cutting channels in the past years (Disney XD +1 and Your TV on Virgin UK)

I feel by 2023 we will see all Disney channels close as TV broadcasting channels and move into that soon to Disney + app.

-Fox

-FOX HD
-Lifetime HD
-Crime + Investigation HD
-Blaze
-Crime + Investigation +1
-Nat Geo Wild HD
-National Geographic Channel
-National Geographic Channel +1
-National Geographic Channel HD
-History HD

-History 2 HD
-BabyTV
-Disney XD

-Star Bharat

I feel by 2023 we will see all Disney channels close as TV broadcasting channels and move into that soon to Disney + app.

-Fox
-Fox +1
-FOX HD
-Lifetime HD
-Crime + Investigation HD
-Blaze
-Crime + Investigation +1
-Nat Geo Wild HD
-National Geographic Channel
-National Geographic Channel +1
-National Geographic Channel HD
-History HD
-History +1
-History 2 HD
-BabyTV
-Disney XD
-Disney Channel
-Disney Channel +1
-Disney Junior
-Star Gold HD
-Star Bharat
-Star Plus HD

That would make no sense at all.

Media Boy, the A&E channels: History, H2, Blaze, C&E, Vice are not owned by Disney, as far as the UK goes.

When Disney bought most of Murdoch's companies, the European Commission ordered Disney to sell off the A&E channels as they decided that Disney would be too dominant in the factual channels genre in the EU.

These channels, as far as the UK goes, are a joint venture between Hearst and Comcast (Sky).

I did not know that bit.

Now I know why Disney HD Channels did not launch when Lifetime, History and Crime + Investigation HD Channels was moved last year.

I do not know why Nat Geo SD Channel is still broadcasting for when Nat Geo Wild SD Channel has been axe.

Absolutely, my thoughts are it'll consist of Hulu originals etc.
Prob be bundled with Disney+ in long run, they do similar in USA.

Makes a lot of sense but how long will it take virgin media to implement it? Based on amazon prime over a year. Based on the whole "we're going to take advantage of the tivo v6 by adding lots of apps" i'd say possibly never since we never really got any apps....

Except that foreign tv one which they then axed

I would doubt that they would do any testing in advance

TV Channel Lists is reporting that Sky are testing the Sky Comedy Channels right now using other SID.

So again keep an eye on Forum Box for information on Sky Comedy Channels testing on Virgin Media UK sometime before this weekend.

At time of posting BoxNation do not have an HD Channel (Source: TV Channel Lists).

Premier Sports did confirm last week "Premier Sports will be actively looking to increase live content on BoxNation with discussions underway to secure long term output agreements with PBC, Top Rank and Golden Boy along with a number of small hall UK promoters."

I was thinking they did have an HD Channel up until 6.30pm tonight.

Yesterday it still had the old Home logo on my V6, today it's the HGTV logo. So it's different areas/boxes at different times.

HGTV is the new name & branding for Home (now Discovery, formerly UKTV). It stands for Home & Garden TV.

We weren't talking about Horizon software. :)

I notice this morning that Universal HD, Universal & Universal +1 have info banners
The main channels 121 & 122 state that they will be replaced by Sky Comedy/HD whereas the +1 just states it will be closing therefore looks like we won’t be getting Sky Comedy +1

Though I’m quite sure there will be plenty of repeats anyway

They haven't mixed up the picture quality on the channels though.
