Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
Just been on my account to see what my tv upgrade offers are (on player pack at the moment) with new line up of player channels. Expecting to see the new pick 'n' mix add ons, but upgrade offers were for the 'mix' or 'full house' packs. Though the link for the channels included with these offers did take you to the new pick 'n' mix options.
So it does look like they're keeping the old legacy packs available for exsisting customers, even as an upgrade. |

I had a call back from someone in the UK following my less than satisfactory attempts to obtain pricing via live chat. He confirmed that I could have it for £80 for the first year. When I said that, presumably, it would go up to £139 after the first year, he said he'd take a look into that. He then came back and said that, after looking at my accounts, it wouldn't go up to much more than £80 in the second year as discounts would be applied. Before I had chance to ask that this was made clear on the notes because of bad experiences with promises made in the past, he informed me that he had updated the notes to reflect what i'd been told. It seems that they are really wanting to push this package and are prepared to discount, so I will certainly be giving it serious consideration. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
"The notes" don't constitute an offer of a service at a price, or a contract in any meaningful way, shape or form. You are setting yourself up here. We will no doubt get to hear all about it in 12 months.

Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
VM have changed their bundles and packages yet again, and it's more confusing than ever!
Now they have: Big Bundle with Mixit TV + M100 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends Big Bundle + Drama Pick with Mixit TV + Entertainment & Drama Pick + M100 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends Bigger Bundle with Maxit TV + M100 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends Bigger Bundle + Sports with Maxit TV + Sky Sports + M100 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends Bigger Bundle + Movies with Maxit TV + Sky Movies + M100 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends Bigger Bundle + Sports & Movies with Maxit TV + Sky Sports + Sky Movies + M100 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends Big Oomph Bundle with Mixit TV + M200 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends + 2GB data SIM Big Oomph Bundle + Drama Pick with Mixit TV + Entertainment & Drama Pick + M200 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends + 2GB data SIM Bigger Oomph Bundle with Maxit TV + M200 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends + 2GB data SIM Bigger Oomph Bundle + Sports with Maxit TV + Sky Sports + M200 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends + 2GB data SIM Bigger Oomph Bundle + Movies with Maxit TV + Sky Movies + M200 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends + 2GB data SIM Bigger Oomph Bundle + Sports & Movies with Maxit TV + Sky Sports + Sky Movies + M200 Fibre Broadband + Talk Weekends + 2GB data SIM Ultimate Oomph Bundle with Maxit TV + Sky Sports HD + Sky Movies HD + Kids Pick + extra V6 box + M500 Fibre Broadband + Talk More Anytime + Truly Unlimited SIM Whoever thought up these ridiculous names like Mixit TV, Maxit TV and Big Omph needs to go! |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
To try and simplify that a bit.
Player TV is now Mixit TV The current Full House TV is now Maxit TV. And there are really three main bundles: Big bundle = Player bundle. Bigger bundle = Full House (without Kids channels) bundle Ultimate Oomph bundle = VVIP The Big Bundle can have the Personal Picks added (Entertainment & Sport Lite / Entertainment & Lifestyle / Entertainment & Documentaries), along with the Kids Pick. The Bigger Bundle can have the Kids Pick added if needed. Both the Big and Bigger bundles can have an 'Oomph' added, which is an increase in the Broadband speed and the SIM added Both the Big and Bigger bundles can have Premium channels added as usual such as Sky Cinema or Sky Sports. As before there may be additional pre-built offer bundles that include Sky Sports or Sky Cinema or both. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
When VM started, they simplified things by creating M, L and XL.
Now it seems more complicated than ever! |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
I sorta understand that, but have not a lot of people always said on here they don't want to be forced to take something they don't want?
So it's either simple tiers of service in bundles that make it so you have something you may not want. Or, a lot of options to get a range of different TV / BB / Phone options so you can find exactly what you want. |

---------- Post added at 15:21 ---------- Previous post was at 15:15 ---------- It's a good thing they changed the name of the New Full House (i.e. Minus Kids TV) pack as it was obviously confusing both existing customers looking for a new deal, existing customers worried about their existing TV package, and VM Sales staff who were making new deals on the phone with existing customers and mistakenly selling them new deals and then getting complaints when the customers found they now had no Kids TV Pay channels. |

Seems kinda odd that they're still offering the old Tivo boxes...
Attachment 27901 As for the plans, it does seem a bit confusing. There seems to be few reasons to 'Pick and Mix' a plan, as nearly all combinations come to more than a standard bundle. Tom |

Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
So in future if I want 200mb broadband maxit tv I HAVE to take a mobile 2gig sim also?
Why isn't 350mb BB on the list has it been discontinued? Talk about bloody confusing. |

I can only presume VM want to get their mobile-base up which you can't blame them for. But I can't be the only one for whom V-Mobile isn't a viable option - I'd guess putting the SIM into a drawer and leaving it, would be the obvious solution. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
Indeed, there seems to be a lot of packages that force a SIM on to you.
I would consider a SIM deal but my VM deal runs out in 3 months and my mobile contract runs out next July. It just doesn't work for me. I'll need to see which new package is closest to the old VIP, I'm yet to find it out of that list |

The VIP bundles have always been designed to be the top of everything available. So that now includes a mobile SIM. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
I'm currently on Full House with 200mb internet, talk weekends and one extra TiVo V6 which I'm currently charged £81.50 (not including discounts). For the same package on the new Bigger Bundle works out at £95.50 on the website (including the extra £5 for the kids channels as I have young kids and I wnat an easier life :D)
An extra £14 per month for the new version of the same package seems a bit steep to me or is there something wrong with the pricing when personalising a bundle? |

Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
I have two VM contracts both expiring end of this month - one VIP (with extra V6 boxes) and one standard bundle. Interestingly they refused to offer me any deal on the standard bundle - said I had to wait till contract had ended.
For the VIP one I switched to the ultimate oomph plus an extra V6 box, and they offered that package for 101.50. Not too bad considering it includes 3 V6 boxes. Awful naming changes aside, good to see new customers not getting preferential treatment for once. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
I was browsing the Virgin Media website and I can't really see any clear mention of the Genre Bundle add-ons now. Ending up confused and frustrated is quite a feat when I'm a long time customer who is very familiar with their services.
It's not, in theory, a difficult thing to simply lay out all they offer, but they have somehow managed it. VM need to urgently completely redo their website. It's not even clear what services options they offer these days. A complete mess of non-information. Continually feel like I'm going round in circles trying to get clear, simple answers. Given the latter used to be point of Virgin-branded services entering their respective markets, I'm amazed it got this bad. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
Personal Picks available on top of Mixit TV are all listed here
https://www.virginmedia.com/shop/bun...ndle-and-picks And they are then listed again in the basket. |

That I couldn't get to that page shows how badly the website is designed these days though. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
There is also a link at the bottom of the Channel Guide that leads to this page https://www.virginmedia.com/content/...Picks_2019.pdf

The problem with both the Channel Guide and the Personal Picks PDF are that they aren't in the Sales part of the website, they are in the Virgin TV Edit section, for existing customers. New customers and existing customers who don't know about the Virgin TV Edit area of the website are going to end up going elsewhere, or ordering services they didn't intend to. |
Re: New Pick 'n' Mix option TV bundles
There is also a personal Pick link as a new customer when selecting build your own bundle https://store.virginmedia.com/configure-your-bundle

I'm thinking of where someone doesn't want to take Virgin Mobile service, but the SIM is essentially a freebie. I'd assume it's like a landline - often cheaper to have one than not, but whether anything's connected to it, is another matter. |
