Yorkshire already 21 for 3, all caught by the keeper, it is a really steamy, overcast morning, just hope the sun breaks through later.

Unusual for Yorkshire to be struggling as they are usually nearer the top rather then the basement.

They think it's all over - it is now!

Yorkshire 192 & 239: Bairstow 82, Brook 55; Onions 3-44

Lancashire 109 & 204: Buttler 59; Root 4-5, Patterson 3-38

Yorkshire (19 pts) beat Lancashire (2 pts) by 118 runs

England Test captain Joe Root finished with a career-best 4-5 as Yorkshire polished off Lancashire in the first hour of day three to win by 118 runs.

Lancashire resumed on 194-6, needing 129 runs to win the Roses match, but Root had Graham Onions caught with the first ball of the day at Old Trafford.

His off-spin claimed Matt Parkinson before Tom Bailey (45) fell, with Root bowling James Anderson to seal victory.

Bit of a find, TiVo has nicely recorded for me Zim v Pak 1 day international highlights, on Sony SAB. The PQ is terrible and aspect ratio all wrong and it's very one sided, but there if you want it ! Also noticed some Canadian 20/20 on Premier Sports the other day, but haven't quite got that desperate yet....

As if watching England wasn’t bad enough. Went to the T20 Blast at Old Trafford last night, Lancs v Leics. Lancashire managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They were cruising having scored 190, Foxes miles behind the required rate when a member of the Taliban comes in and scores 86 of 32 deliveries.

Some of my family went to the Hampshire game and Kent made a low score of around 120 but it was no as calamitous as Hampshire's loss of wickets early as they lost 4 wickets with around just 20 runs on the board.

If England do manage to scrape a win here it would be totally unjustified even allowing for Sam Currans heroics.

Very poor batting in both innings and woeful catching in India’s first innings. Given home advantage and how India where so undercooked, a dismal display overall.

An easy win in the end against a thoroughly dispirited Indian side. Badly prepared and even though England got out of jail in the first match and by winning the toss here they had by far the best of both bowling and batting conditions the old adage is true. ‘Fail to prepare, prepare to fail ‘.

Surprising given the video footage, but the jury knows best. Hope he's learnt a lesson even if he isn't 'criminally' guilty.

Oh, I dunno...Bangladesh and Zimbabwe played Test Cricket for a reason ; the tests where the Aussies and South Africans hammered them would still be considered "proper wins", for the victors. Just wouldn't be very competitive for the neutral viewer to watch.

Then you and I will just have to differ on our definition of a 'proper test', one sided, easy, three day wins are not my idea of proper tests.

Granted the first test in this series was an ebb and flow game that did have moments of excitement, but that was due in the main to the incompetence of both teams with a few notable exceptions.

The last test was not really a good watch, the outcome was predicable after the first days play.

This match is shaping up far better and I can see England struggling to chase 400/450 runs if India don't collapse tomorrow.

The weather could still have the final say though. ;)

The last couple of games I watched on TV where in the Southern group and the grounds were both less than a third full.

Not every match is going to be full.

You ain't far from the truth Mr K.

Ramps had a pretty ordinary international career but his first class record was phenomenal. For whatever reason it just didn't work out internationally. The tactical awareness of the game was clearly there so he would have been well suited to being a batting coach.

And of course, everyone remembers that catch...

There's the here and now Chloe, and he's failed in his job.
Get Boycott in. They wouldn't dare play loose shots if he was waiting for them in the pavilion ;)

To me there are several problems as first of all l don't see Joe Root as a good captain of England as thus so far he has been deeply unconvincing.

True but in his successes, he seems to be well qualified for the job. At least IMO.

I agree with your larger point though.

No, he would be caring about his average....or umm complaining that beefy ran him out.

Or something.

England lose wickets when I watch and don’t take them when I do. Stopped watching after lunch, going to risk watching again now.:)

A great English batsman and servant to the English game but sadly old father time has caught him up.

Re: English cricket hits rock bottom again !

I wouldn’t agree with that, England did win the series but I personally felt underwhelmed by the overall performance. England got very lucky with the toss and the weather at Lords, without the three match turning innings from Curran, Woakes and Buttler none of whom are front line batsmen they would have been well beaten in this series by now. Only India’s total lack of preparation and England’s bowling helped them to scrape through. The batting regularly collapses and the slip catching is often very poor as well.

With a complete dearth of opening or no3 batsmen around and any obvious replacements for Broad and Anderson seemingly no where on the scene the short term future for English cricket is not that rosy ATM. :(

Not the only thing to hit rock bottom,if Somerset don’t get a points deduction for the Taunton wicket there is no justice. 38 wickets have fallen before 3:00 pm on the second day.

It was a tie ! First in the county championship for 15 years. Sounds like a exciting entertaining wicket to me - can't have that in the game ;) The Lancys are whinging though, no change there ;)
