Re: Vivid 350?

Why do you all need 380/21 for? Why? At present 80/20 is more than enough for every days streaming, downloading etc. I just don't understand why everyone's want this 380/21 so badly or is it to show off speed test or mine is faster than your?

If virgin media 380/21 or BT 330/30 is available to my house I wouldn't bother to have it. More than happy with my current 80/20 FTTC. Don't need faster than that at present.

That's nice for you. My gran finds her 2mbit ADSL to be enough so perhaps we should all switch to that?

At times in our house there are 2 4k streams from Netflix happening in different rooms. This is 30mbit, but then I can be on my PC doing stuff. FTTC is only 55mbit for me.

When I download a new game from Steam, I want it now, not in 3 hours time. This service makes it pretty damn close to now.

I pay £43 a month for my 350mbit broadband, no phone line. It would be £44.99 for 55mbit from BT. Why would I pay more and get less?

Because downloading 30GB+ on 80/20 takes bloody ages.

I certainly don't want to download new gen. of PC games such as Battlefield 1 at 80mbit/sec when 388mbit is available to me now. The thought of having to spend 15 years on a 5mbit connection still gives me shudders...

Anyway, so once again I contacted a CS rep via chat (4th attempt) and this time I was immediately upgraded to VIVID 350 from VIVID 300.

Decided to have VOOM 350 installed with the Hitron as a 2nd line to run along the TTB 80/20.

Didn't go with static IP as didn't fancy the whole GRE Tunnel idea isn't really required anyway.

Some comparisons : Voom 350

TTB 80/20

So where the VM will serve me well for large downloads. It wouldn't be wise to get rid of the TTB line for latency intensive applications or gaming as I expected.

On my old 80/20 connection it would take me an hour to download 26 gigs now for just £6 more than I was paying I can do it in 9 minuets, how is it hard to understand that people just have different needs or wants? I'm sure as **** happy paying this much just to download something faster.

Reading your posts elsewhere this comes to mind immediately as this is a cable forum, and I imagine people will be perplexed by the lack of a 14 day trial on your alleged order when you only found the existence of Vivid 350 a matter of days earlier.

You were so interested in ultrafast you were happy spend thousands upfront and hundreds a month.

I remember this rather astonishing switch from being prepared to move home for FTTP to being content with standard broadband in the space of less than 2 hours.

You seem to have relapsed. I'd consider dipping into these funds, then carrying out your plan here.

What you're doing now isn't healthy. There're quite enough fantasists in the world.

How much is this on top of 200 Gamer?

I don't think there is s set price because 200 Gamer doesn't exist anymore. You are best ringing up and seeing what deal they offer you because I was expecting to pay an extra £10/month and they have given it to me for free.

Anyone on the 300mb package will have speeds increased to 350mb at no additional cost

While the Vivid 350mb users proberbly pay extra for the same level of service.

Re: Vivid 350?

I have been on 350Mb for ages, but it has only just become available according to the VM postcode check. CV3 6**. A completely new VM area 2 blocks away, which has newly installed FTTP, only has 200Mb as its headline maximum speed! You have to dig deeper to see that 350Mb is available.:erm:

Two reasons:
1) I can, and often do, download a 2Gb torrent file, in 49 seconds. That means I can reduce the length of time I require to cane the network right down to a minimum. I just wish I had better upload speed to get my share ratio to 1:1, just as quickly.
2) Having two teen gamers/4K video streamers in the house means my service is never compromised.

BTW You changed your tune!

that's great but as always they let you know about 6 months after they have already done it

Was anyone ever on "300" though?

I thought everyone on the 300 package were always put on "350" from the start?

Since the gamer package was retired this is the only way I could get 20 up, which I kind of need for working from home.

General Maximus 24-03-2018 14:01

Re: Vivid 350?

when it very first came out they were. I think ever since they made the decision to do the phased upgrade though, which started around July last year, all new subscribers were automatically put onto vivd 350 because vivid 300 becomes one of those blacklisted codes which you can't add to an account anymore.

I was through Homeworks.

Re: Vivid 350?

300 was a 345mbit max traffic rate, 350 is a 402mbit max traffic rate, they are and always were 2 different products.

I had 300 through homeworks, then Vivid 300 once it was a thing, then 350 a few months back as soon as it was an option.

Im on Vivid 200 Gamer, is there anyway to find out when your area might get 300 / 350 Mb ?

Spoke to VM and they simply said its not in my area yet?

General Maximus 03-04-2018 21:34

Re: Vivid 350?

350 might not be but all areas should be enabled for homeworks/vivid300 and when i requested it i was automatically put on 350

I've had an issue with this for some time.

I'm on Vivid 200, however as a new customer (same postcode and house number) - I would be eligible for Vivid 350... my area supports it yet they seem to not want to support me as a previous customer.

CS have always been a bit hit and miss when it comes to upgrades and recently whenever I have tried contacting CS they have always had "computer issues" and they can't do anything to help me.

I've had the same for days and then by chance checked uSwitch today.

It said I could get 350 even though VM on the phone said I couldnt.

Did a web chat and now this:

Plus it was cheaper than my old 200 Gamer Package.
