As you already know tiz, there are wicked people out there who do wicked things, usually because they're just bad or have some sort of mental illness... but it's when a normally sane, good person does wicked things in the name of religion, now that upsets and saddens me to no end.

However, the embargo was because Japan had invaded South-East Indo-China, so I am not sure that supports the statement that 'US involvement in WW2 was all about oil'....

There's a (reasonably) balanced view from the US Military Academy, which points out that the US backed Japan into a corner.
