2.2? Wow lol....That must be a crappy handset (Ignore me,I'm a tech head and currently have a Nexus 4, a Galaxy S4 and a iPhone 5) but that's not what this thread is about, its about TV anywhere which currently only runs on iOS.:D ---------- Post added at 20:59 ---------- Previous post was at 20:57 ---------- Quote:

You've missed the point - a properly written app for 2.2 can work just fine for 4.2. I'm well aware that TVA is on iOS. This thread (as far as I'm aware) covers all versions on that app on all platforms. |

Re: TV Anywhere App
All said and done the app once again is not working again tonight, the MRS is a huge let down and makes me regret swapping my Samsung V+ for a 2nd TiVo. So for Android people your not missing out :)
Correction it's working now! But shows you it's hit and miss. |

My point is that the 'fragmentation' issue you raised isn't an issue with a decently coded app. If VM were to release TVA and it didn't run OK on 5.0 then, well.....I'd be disappointed in the development team working on TVA. 53% of devices are on at least 4.0: http://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html |

Well, its the end of May.
The sun is out. The Android version of this app isn't. Maybe June (2013) will be the lucky month. |

Virgin can add all the new channels they like but it's still a shambles that there isn't an Andriod application.

Re: TV Anywhere App
This is the one thing that is really getting me  is the lack of the Android version of this app.
Later this year, just get it out there FFS. |
Re: TV Anywhere App
They seem to take ages sorting anything to do with apps. The TIVO Twitter App has been down for over 6 weeks. Talk about taking the mic.

Re: TV Anywhere App
And no additions to MRS.. what a let down

Re: TV Anywhere App
Can't understand VM's MRS restrictions on recordings. Just read about a Panasonic Blu Ray/HDD recorder which allows you to watch TV recordings on other devices connected to the network.
Come on VM - sort this out ASAP! [EDIT - the above feature may be restricted in some regions, but maybe someone could confirm if it works in the UK?] |
Re: TV Anywhere App

Virgin Media do, so have to comply with what the broadcasters wish. Although, personally I agree it's a bit silly - MRS doesn't cause any copying issues, if anything it would be likely to reduce them |
Re: TV Anywhere App
VM need to move with the times. Apple aren't the big dogs anymore, and VM need to cater to all audiences.

TiVo released their iOS app first, so that is why VM could. Nothing more complicated than that. |
Re: TV Anywhere App
Is Comedy Central returning or was it a mistake that it was momentarily added?

Re: TV Anywhere App
I'd hazard a guess at building up a large tried & tested whitelist before launch so that current popular handsets and all current Virgin Mobile handsets are guaranteed to work.

Re: TV Anywhere App
Was searching around for the upcoming Al Jazeera UK channel and I landed on the old press release about the current ones launching on VM. The PR says "Both channels courtesy of Al Jazeera will be available on Virgin Media’s TV Anywhere in 2013".
http://www.aljazeera.com/pressoffice/2013/03/20133210535245700.html Not exactly earth shattering but its far better than nothing. |

When will android users be able to actually use TVanywhere? Why are VM six months or more behind Sky on mobile device streaming? Is there a chance that VM care little about this side of their services? Just seems to be a lot of silence regarding this area of the business. |

I think when VM carry movies and sports on TV Anywhere app then Sky need to add more channels IMO

Is this app avail on the Android/Tab2 yet?

Re: TV Anywhere App

Even if this was the case, VM are still way behind as their android customers, which are a larger percentage than apple users now, cant use any of them channels anyway. The ios users are also restricted to wifi compared to sky's app which works over mobiles data network too. So saying that VM has more channels does not counter the argument that VM don't care so much about the streaming side of things ---------- Post added at 11:08 ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 ---------- Quote:

Plus of course Sky Go has on demand, because (apart from Channel 4) every on demand channel they offer on the app, Sky operate. |

Virgin: 77 on PC, 53 on iOS (22 difference being only Sky channels).
Sky: 48 on PC, 39 on mobile. ---------- Post added at 16:12 ---------- Previous post was at 16:10 ---------- I scrolled through the 3 pages of 'showcase' on demand and they were all Sky ___ or 4oD, so yeah my bad MM. |

The android one has to be developed, however they are clearly not 100% happy with it to release it yet. Be it there is a problem or something else. |
Re: TV Anywhere App
More accurate? I don't think the question was "why can't I use an ios app on an android machine?", I think it was "why isn't there an android app?".
