I've never really liked him. His time in the EPL was just one big advert for his own rants. 90% of the time his interviews didn't even make sense.

Ibrahim Afellay could be avaiable for as little as 6mil.. bloody steal, could be the bargain of the season. Arsene sign him. Van Persies already said he's one of the not so many he's got a connection with, similar to the one he had with Cesc. me thinks thats a hint. just sign him Arsene, we'll cross the not being played bridge of other players, Gerinvho!! when we get there.

IMHO one if the reasons LFC have so much turbulance is because the media is full of LFC former players that always want to feed into the doom and gloom and are very bias, e.g. Kenny did no better than Roy all things considered but was not really villified to the same extent.

Rodgers is just what LFC need. A young manager that could be around for years that has an attacking philosophy that the team can now be built around in a positive manner.

...assuming he is given the chance - if by Dec LFC are languishing in mid table will the knives be out?

btw, I've no agenda here - would like to some young British blood making it at teh bigger clubs and hope Rodgers does well

Well he certainly gave a good account of he way he goes about his business in the press conference this morning. Also, when Ayre was farting about around the houses with his usual word play when the director of football issue came up Brendan Rogers just cut him short and got straight to the point with no bull which is a refeshing change to what we, as fans have been forced to consume since Rafa was moved on.

Either way the club is in a better position than it was on many levels compared with the periods when both Hodgson and Kenny were appointed so I'm sure he will be afforded the time to implement his plans.

That will be almost certainly what happens as LFC are a mid table team. Its just fans and ex LFC pundits that seem to think otherwise.

My guess is - same as Roy Hodgson scenario following replacement by an ex LFC associate who is mediocre but is 'accepted'.

Reina already came out and belittled Rodgers already.

I think he is merely saying as it is...whilst I'm not sure what wenger is saying.

Personally I think the attack could use new blood, but only if we got rid of one, and not before other areas are strengthen.

Defense has been my bane last season, I got scared everytime someone ran at our defense..it isn't as solid as the stats show.

And maybe a midfielder.[COLOR="Silver"]

Oh, and yes, I would happily take RVP, if he wanted to come..who wouldn't? :D

Some of the players we have though, e.g. Squillaci are just terrible though. I hope the likes of Denilson etc leave as they ate decent enough but Arsenal have really made them look terrible and as it transpired last season, teams obviously want proof that they aeen't the flops that Wenger made them.

It seems that we have Yes man as England manager.

Hodgson has stated that Ferdinand wasn't selected as a matter of football tactics, but we all know that he couldn't have Ferdinand and John Terry in the same dressing room, but to me if Ferdinand wasn't selected then neither should have Terry.

The FA are hypicrites.

I think he is, if Rogers Is trying to replicate his Swansea team he'll need a Sinclair type player and Theo is better than him to boot imo

Personally, although Terry can be a good player, I still mantain it is wrong of Hodgson and FA to allow a player facing trial for racist abuse to travel to a country where he will most likely be treated as a hero by the bigots there in Ukraine.

Innocent until proven Guilty is one of the bedrocks of our system.

I'd agree with that but until the court rubber stamps what we already know ;) that dumbass law has him labelled as innocent.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

The innocent till proven guilty is a farce in my book, Terry is facing a court regarding racism.

He should have been dropped from the squad till proven innocent, you cannot have one rule for one, and then another.

What is wrong with the FA and Hodgson to come out and say it was for football reasons, Ferdinand has more experience and is much needed, and for Paul Merson to come out and say it is wrong for his agent to come out and say what he did, he cannot talk. Look at the shame he brought on his club.

To me it looks like The FA and Hodgson are backing Terry, which is a disgrace in itself - the CPS would not have taken it to court if there was no basis to it.

That doesn't mean to day he's guilty of anything. A CPS prosecution does not automatically lead to a conviction.

edit: latest hate crime figures: http://www.report-it.org.uk/crown_pr..._hate_crime_re

"In 2010-11 there were 10,823 guilty pleas out of 12,651 convictions and 15,284 prosecutions overall."

So of the 4,500 who didn't plead guilty, less than half were convicted.

They still lack that inventive playmaker in midfield as Paul Scholes is 37 now and how many games is he going to play in a season.

The Terry situation is this, if it was Joe Bloggs in the street, and our employer found out, we would be in serious trouble as racism is treated very seriously.

So why on earth is a footballer treated any differently, already we have people saying that black players should not be going to Poland in fear of trouble, why is it that the FA allowing Terry going as he is facing a racism charge.

Racism is a serious business, and it appears that the FA are doing this 'respect stuff' but in this case they are not, they have basically told Ferdinand that he cannot play for 'football reasons', which between the lines are saying we don't want you there in case it cuases trouble with Terry- so where is the respect campaign now.

You've got a good point Arthur. (Never though I'd use that phrase!;))

Even if i hadn't been convicted of an offence I suspect my employer may suspend me while an investigation takes place if there was a suggestion that I'd been involved in a hate crime.

Not sure. He's untested in the PL. I'm more in favour of Di Matteo really. I can't see him staying on at Chelsea, I'm sure Roman wants a bigger name with more experience.

Apparently Michael Laudrup is in the frame (although his people have denied it) and that would be interesting but again I'd rather a manager with PL experience who will hit the ground running.

Yes and suspending someone until the results of an investigation are in isn't exactly unheard of, that is why he isn't captain anymore after all, the thought of him by done miracle lifting the.trophy is to much even for the fa to bare, yet it's ok for him to still go.

true, I'm not entirely sure how his time has gone at Ajax, all I keep reading is he's still learning.

I think your going to be disappointed with Roberto. Romans found it hard to buy players to suit a manager, high profile, it would have to be Pep but hes out for atleast a year and anywho he'll be Arsenal manager when he comes back :p: :D anywho I do think Roman will hand Roberto a contract. Its a good match up, Roman buys and gets his thrill of buying while Roberto brings it altogether.

I'm happy that Ferdinand is not going. I don't care for what reason. but Euro talk has it's own thread.

Cissé pledges future to Newcastle, ends all transfer talk from Madrid and various other clubs.
