Order not yet dispatched QQ I failed to update my payment info and got a new debit card for contactless payment and forgot my old card was cancelled. The way it was it said delivery would be the 18th now so I've paid for 1 day delivery. Down at Middlesbrough at the minute with nothing but the smartphone in front of me so not much more I can do till tonight.

One thing I will ask is Amazon have given a tracking number, so will it need to be signed for? If so I'll need to have someone be here for it because I'll be working

Usually my games from Amazon are wrapped lightly and come straight through the letter box. I'd wait to hear other people's experience before making judgement though.

What did you do to be punished so much?

Also, are people actually getting dispatch emails or is it just saying it on the website?

Isn't as bad as I made out we were just stopping for a bite to eat en route to Birmingham for Newcastle vs Villa

Is anyone on here actually playing the game NOW? I've heard some places have sold early and that some people have been playing since Thursday. Apparently, that isn't illegal but streaming the content before launch day IS and that is why a few have had their XBL accounts banned for life.

Streaming content without the dev's permission is illegal technically after release day also...Copyright and all that

I've seen some people playing it already (received it today)

The places selling it (in shops) early will probably get their wrists slapped.

Yep, so my advice, if you are playing it now, don't upload any gameplay as it will get you banned

I've seen on DS that people who received it early from Amazon were all in Northern Ireland... I guess it was sent out early to ensure they definitely got it by the release day, only for the post to perform better than normal.

I dont believe so, i think its does gets posted through letter box. I think tracked mines you can see if it has left post office thats why it has a tracking number

Nope.

Wayne, what actual method was used for it?

Recorded Delivery and Special Delivery both require a signature.

I don't know what other "tracked' methods there are.

How can I find out matt, as it just gives me a tracking number on my order page

Tezcatlipoca 15-09-2013 20:02

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Not sure. Does the tracking number work yet on the Royal Mail site? If it does, then I think that should say what service it is.

Still, AFAIK there are only two tracked RM services, Special Delivery and Recorded Delivery, and both require a signature. Actually, Recorded Delivery isn't even called Recorded Delivery now - it's been renamed to "Signed For".

Special Delivery gives guaranteed delivery the next day (or same day if you pay extra), has full tracking, and needs a signature on delivery.

Signed For (Recorded Delivery) uses standard 1st Class / 2nd Class, provides proof of sending and proof of delivery only (no full tracking), and needs a signature on delivery.

---------- Post added at 19:02 ---------- Previous post was at 18:55 ----------

Ah... Further looking around the Royal Mail site reveals they also have a couple of parcel services that are tracked: "Tracked 24" and "Tracked 48". Signature on delivery is optional... so presumably chosen by the sender.

Maybe they used that for yours...

Amazon don't usually send first class dispatches out tracked so my money is on this being a kind of safeguard against pilfering and dishonest individuals saying that they haven't received their game.

Popping out to my local Tesco in about an hour. Heard that because people are getting their games early they will sell from lunch today. Probably a load of rubbish, but I will still go and look.

Royal Mail Track and Trace is a bit of a waste of time because their system is only updated at certain times.

For instance this has only appeared in the last hour:

14-SEP-2013 21:31 Outward RDC Volumetric Acceptance South Western Distribution Centre

So if your copy was dispatched on Saturday, chances are it'll have the same status.

Yup. I think it's a similar thing as with Halo 3: The game caches stuff from the DVD to the HDD and then streams it off the HDD. So, if you install the "play" disc to the HDD, you end up having the situation where stuff is being cached from the HDD to the HDD...

OK, not quite:

Apparently it's because of the way it handles having two discs.

Install Disc 1 (mandatory) but not Disc 2: The 360 streams data from the HDD (disc 1) and DVD (disc 2) at the same time. All is fine.

Correct. Has been an issue since they allowed game installs. Notably the first affected was Forza 3. Well the first high profile game anyway.

Got mine :)

Sent from Amazon, 1st class, not tracked.

Now if only Mrs D didn't "work from home" :( Why couldn't she be going to France to see her parents this week instead of the week after next? :(

Mine doesn't give the option to install :(

---------- Post added at 17:02 ---------- Previous post was at 17:00 ----------

Ah ok, you have to launch it as if you are going to play :)

Yeah, I had that feeling of OMG how do I install, then I hit play and it brought up the option of what hard drive to install to. Took me around 7.5 minutes to install onto my HD. How long for others did it take? Seen some people saying it took half an hour to install onto their HD!

Don't forget guys:

Only install Disc 1 (and do it via the game menu), don't install Disc 2.

Play? I'm surprised anyone still uses them. I thought it had become some crappy marketplace now.

Correct. Has been an issue since they allowed game installs. Notably the first affected was Forza 3. Well the first high profile game anyway.

Yep...agreed. I even got my other half playing on it and she isn't a gamer :) Found it awkward to unlock Michael though (not the mission but the lack of notification that a mission was available etc)...but its done now

Absolutely loving this :D

Not touched the main missions much... Still only got Franklin.

Done a few side missions. The first two paparazzi ones were good, and the second quite funny. Done a few tow truck missions for that crack-whore friend. I failed one though as I thought it would be more fun to tow a police car around the city... things kind of 'escalated" :D

I've avoided progressing with one side mission so far, as it involved a race and I kept screwing it up big time.

Oh, I also walked into a gas station, which automatically turned into a hold up. Ooops! :D

Game keeps prompting me to download the iFruit app... Would be awesome if the entire world solely used iPhones. So we're made to wait on Android which has the bigger market share. :dunce:

I'm lucky enough to own a Galaxy s3 but who's betting it'll only be available to android 4.+

MalteseFalcon 18-09-2013 10:47

re: GTA V (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC)

I am not going to bother with the iFruit app. Wish I could turn off the notifications for it because I refuse to buy any Apple crap. I find it over priced and over rated.

Yeah, you are supposed to take a 15 minute break for every hour at a monitor. I have had to take a long break, played for 2 hours straight and then wondered why I was seeing things.

Quick break for food and drink, then back to it.
