Its funny how some of our family moaned like anything about the colder weather earlier this year and stated succinctly we cannot wait for the warmer hotter weather but alas most of them are hoping for the weather to break now.

Too much of a good thing Den.

Re: Weather

Personally l am not a lover of extremes Stephen in the weather as if its too cold my extremities struggle to warm up and if it is too hot l get oedema gathering in the tissues of the body.

18 to 21 celsius would do my fine but alas British weather is pretty inconsistent generally.

Yeah I suffer edema in my legs but can't say it's dependant on the weather.

That was my thinking when i started painting the metal fence around the garden at 8am the other day. Ended up up not finishing it until about 1pm with a burnt neck and bald spot, so much for that plan!

I think the idea would be to start at 0700 and stop around 1100, the restart after 1500 - problem in the UK is that we have more hours of sunlight (per day) than the med.

We've had heaps of clear unbroken sunshine this year in Glasgow. Think it's unsettled us , we all became cheery and positive. As you say back to grey and damp. It's what we know and expect. Embrace the damp clammy heat Stephen it's nasty but it's what we are :)

Couldn't agree more and this could go on for months meaning the hottest summer for 350 years.

Normally i hate it raining, but please give me some rain as i haven't seen much of it in months, although i drizzled for 30mins last Friday, but evaporated before it hit the ground.

We've been rehearsing this evening for a festival over the weekend. Our practice room is pretty much a concrete box with no windows, valve amps, keyboards, mixer and power amp for the PA. Well over 30 degrees in there, probably pushing on for 35... Not nice.

l was looking at quite a few long range forecasts and apart from the odd thunderstorm the hot weather is here to stay as far as the eye can see well into the 4th week of August.

We've had the air-con on most nights recently. Keeps the bedroom at a nice comfy 15C and low humidity. Bit noisy on full blast but a good nights sleep is worth it.

Fortunately the main bedroom faces North so doesn't get cooked during the day.

While up here in Scotland we are cloudy with temps barely reaching 19-20 degrees and plenty of rain it seems.

However tomorrow seems to be an anomoly as its to be clear and 27 degrees apparently. Then on Friday back down to 21 degrees. Most of next week is forcast to be cloudy with rain and temps of 18-19 degrees.

Our young folk are off to a Christian Youth Camp (NewDay) next week and we are going on hols to Devon and big Christian camp for the bank holiday weekend. Want those periods to be warm and dry.

I like the heat, guess I'm used to it but we do need some rain. Ideally Mon/Tue so the ground is dry again for archery on Friday and Saturdays. I use wooden arrows with feather fletchings that don't like the rain and the hard ground makes it easier to find arrows.

This weather has nothing to do with greenhouse gases as it has more to do with a unbudgeable jet stream.:)

That is another subject for another day but this is generally why we have had a scorcher of a summer..

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/0/c...pect-get-week/

Quote:

The Met Office explains high pressure systems are “slow moving and can persist over an area for a prolonged period of time such as days or weeks”.

“They can occur in the UK due to the location of the jet stream, which is usually to the north of the UK in the summer,” it adds.

And what causes the change in the jet stream ?
Quote:

. Climate scientists have hypothesized that the jet stream will gradually weaken as a result of global warming. Trends such as Arctic sea ice decline, reduced snow cover, evapotranspiration patterns, and other weather anomalies are expected to make the Arctic heat up faster than other parts of the globe. This in turn reduces the temperature gradient that drives jet stream winds, causing the jet stream to become weaker and more variable in its course.[

my bedroom is south facing with solid walls no insulation once the walls are hot they stay hot ,the room is 26c on average this time of year ,as soon as i turn the air con off the temperature just goes straight up even at night .

Donald Trump has said he will pull the US out of the Paris international climate agreement, taken steps to cut back the US Environmental Protection Agency, and is on record saying that global warming is a hoax invented by the Chinese to attack US manufacturing.

A single hot summer, freak weather event or very cold winter doesn't prove anything obviously. You cannot link any one thing directly to climate change, it doesn't work like that.

Climate change increases the chances of more extreme weather.

The question is are we seeing 'freak' events more often? It's correct to say you cannot point to any one event as because due to global warming but if you have to do that more and more then maybe something is changing in the climate.

Apart from the hanging baskets as the rain doesn't get to those easily.

Give it another day of rain before people start complaining about what a rotten summer we're having !

On Thursday morning at 7:15 am it was 32c in my office, it was horrendous.

Luckily I decided to book Friday off, and when it thundered I stood outside in it.

When you go there what places do you recommend as we go a few times in the summer on day trips to the arcades and adventure golf and grab a bite to eat at saras tearoom, is there anything else we should be looking into doing?

We've had a little bit of rain but now I'd like a return to more civilised weather - 25-35C lots of sun. Make more electricity on our solar platform (got over 16kWh in the good weather, 2kWh on Sunday) and I'm happier in the heat.

Gonna get up in the 30s here next week again (I hate it when it gets that hot!!)

Re: Weather

It will feel like 32c here again today, far too bloody hot and humid for me, the next week or so is similar.

At least it isn't the usual rain and gales i guess!
