Multiple strikers need to be signed, Gutierrez has an ego and no skills to back them up and Barton should have gone for the trouble he stirred a month or two ago.

If these promotion teams are any good we're in trouble.

The question Newcastle supporters need to ask is where is the money from the Carroll deal.

Jun 2011 Yohan Cabaye Lille £TBC
Jun 2011 Demba Ba Unattached Free
Jun 2011 Sylvain Marveaux Stade Rennes £TBC
Jul 2011 Mehdi Abeid Unattached Free

Including agent fee's and wages the money is right there. There was never any plans on blowing £35million on a single player. With bidding ongoing for an un-named striker I'm pleased with current business.

I recall Andy Carroll scoring quite a few, I also recall Nolan scoring a bundle from starting as a Centre Forward.

But lets base it on facts rather than opinion, Newcastle were 6th for goals scored, 3 behind Liverpool and 4 behind Manchester City. January came and Carroll left. People claimed we couldn't score goals. Arsenal fans learnt the hard way.

Indeed, But I simply do not want to be thought of as one of those Toon fan that expects Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer and to spend 35million on a single player. Mike Ashley has put a lot of money into the club and a lot of people fail to realise that. Blame is pointed at Ashley for relegation when the truth is it was coming for a long time due to spending a lot of money on unknown and rubbish players.

Unless you are suggesting he pockets the income of Newcastle United?

Wayne Bridge will be a good buy but again it depends on what wages they're giving him.

I don't expect big money buys, just be sensible with the funds and buy people who are certainly committed to the club without having to buy their commitment.

Norwich, QPR and Swansea will take a battering next season but one of them should survive with a bit a luck and we will see Wolves or Wigan make the drop.

The difference between Premierleague and Championship football is a lot bigger than people make it out to be.

Take West Brom and Newcastle's championship campaign in what turned out to be the most one sided title race which was wrapped up Christmas with both teams securing unchallenged promotion a month or so before the season had finished.

More to the point of the Premierleague Title, Hopefully Arsenal can stop dropping points in easy games and actually make it somewhat of an interesting season with more than 2 title challengers. I see Chelsea winning it in the end but I do not see the Champions league trophy at Stamford bridge unless the special one is in the hot seat.

I tend to agree however no one gave Blackpool are figs chance in hell and they *almost* managed it. Not finishing bottom & not getting totally humiliated week in week out will be okay for me - finishing 4th from bottom and i'll be ecstatic!

Its funny though because when the 3 from the premierleague drop, They usually steamroll championship opposition and come right back up so It's nice to see Swansea, QPR and Norwich who have not been about either at all or for a few seasons.

Whether its just the fact that Newcastle's relegation was just unlucky or not still doesn't stop Birmingham, West Ham or West Brom burying championship teams when they do drop.

Jameseh 21-07-2011 17:42

Southampton, Sheff Utd, Watford, Derby, Leeds, etc never came straight back up more relegated yet again. I'd say Newcastle was the anomaly.

West Brom are still in the premiership

I think he would have got more premiership experience sticking with Swansea, instead he has to compete with 2 other reserves and the current first team keeper

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Most of the teams mentioned there James were in a real crisis, Leeds being the more high profile crisis than the others.

What I mean are teams that bounce up and down all the time. Sunderland were a club that were in and out of that league easily.

Usually one promoted club survives the drop but both West Brom and Newcastle proved their Premierleague credentials whilst Blackpool had a good run and an awesome first try. they just did not cut it out.

When 3 teams come up that have been championship clubs for years.. Its going to be a dose of battering's week in week out and usually and here's to hoping that one of them can pull of a string of results to keep them above an unfortunate club.. Probably Wolves :p:

Sorry Norwich and QPR fans but I do hope it's Swansea :D

It was a pre-season friendly and he did score the first goal.. but Mancini wasn't happy about it and he did get dragged off two minutes later.. City won the match on penalties 7-6 after a 1-1 fulltime result.

He's a joke. Newcastle signed him when he'd just been arrested for stubbing a cigarette on someone and now that he's (supposedly) back in form he's throwing his weight around thinking he's jesus or something.

Yes they are both good players but l do not think some managers would be as accommodating as Mancini is with his so called man management style.

Re: Football Season 2011/12

Newcastle are unfortunately about to be thrown into turmoil by another player revolt led by non other than Jose Enrique.

Both Barton and Enrique are kicking up a fuss for two completely different reasons. Barton is kicking a fuss because he wants to spend the rest of his Career in a Newcastle shirt and Enrique is questioning the 35m transfer funds which are going nowhere.

Seems to me like they wanted Barton to leave this summer for a price rather than have him refuse and see his contract out. Enrique they also want out, Stating he wasnt interested in a highest earner contract but rather money spent on quality players.

To my reckoning we enjoyed 35m in January.

Nolan to West ham - 4+ Million
Enrique to ****** - 7-15 Million

Cabaye to Newcastle - 5 million
Marveaux to Newcastle - 5 million
Demba ba to Newcastle - Free
Possible Striker - Free - 10 million
Ben Arfa - 5+Million
Defender to replace Enrique - Free - 7 million

We are selling all of our best players apparently.. He fails to see that we are also replacing them with new and what could be proved to be better talent. I'm sorry but Tiote replacing Alan Smith was a godsend.

So nothing is being spent.. Apart from the £17 million a few weeks ago on 3 players and the Incoming Striker + The defender to replace Enrique..

Newcastle United.. Soap's and Footie on one channel!

Nah he's just naffed we stole all there monies in January.

Also something to discuss is Chelsea, and Both of the Manchester's lack of interest in the new Uefa policy coming into action soon.

Teams cannot spend more than they bring in. Platini loses the Premierleague and I'm afraid you dont have a very interesting 'Champions League' pal.

You still had an easy run to Qualify for the Europa league or even the Champions League after Kenny arrived. In FACT. He lost 7 games last season in charge.. The same amount as his predecessor?

We are inconsistent? With the current squad of Liverpool and the sheer calibre and money spent with one goal.. to win a Premierleague Title which still has not happened and we are the ones that are inconsistent. A promoted club from the championship that only managed 12th place and losing the same amount of games as Liverpool. Your not the big 4 club anymore.

Facts are better than opinions.

I'll be the first to admit I'm a Newcastle fan and we are far from a brilliant team. But Liverpool were absolutely crap whether you like it or not. But I suppose it was all Rafa's fault. The man that delivered you the most memorable comeback in history to win a 5th Champions league. Maybe you should point the finger at your underperforming players rather than the Owner or the Manager because they are responsible for the downfall! Torres couldn't score in a brothel.

The Premier League does serve as a useful milestone in when football became a commercial giant and had a big increase in popularity. It's not just the case that the name of the league changed, a different type of league took it's place. Hence the dominance of certain teams who were well positioned to take advantage of the massive revenues generated in the last 15 years.

As for the Premier(ship) League it is so different than the old Division 1 that I don't think a title 30 years ago is comparable to a title these days.. The teams, players and the rules are a lot tougher and professional.

Agreed. I'm not one who thinks the good old days was best. Some of the football I seen 30 years ago was dire. And that was when my team was winning.

My lasting memory was going to a Hibs match (though I'm a Jambo) and watching a certain george Best play his first game for Hibs. That taught me what real football was about, made the rest seem pretty crap.

Just to add my two pennies worth:

The "Premiership" is a rugby union league. The top flight of English football is called the Premier League, not Premiership and has been for about 4 years now. So please stop calling it the latter. Thank you.

The names part of it's history.. but unlike the change from Division 1 there was a lot less change when it stopped being the Premiership and is now The Premier League..

But as this is a football thread and not a Rugby thread I don't think it'll be confused, also try typing in Premiership into any search engine and tell me what's the top 3 results ;)

What would we do without the search engine :D

Indeed, on a more serious note rather than the usual anti-Liverpool banter. There is no doubt they have terrific fans home & away and they truly deserve Premierleague glory.

One of my favourite moments in football involves Liverpool which I'm sure everyone will remember as possibly the greatest football match in recent history or of all time! Liverpool 3p-3 AC Milan

I bet somewhere.. Sir Alex was on his feet!

Yes I'm sure he was. Also probably saying to himself "Yeah, coming back from behind when everyone thought a team was well beaten in a CL final, no other English club has done that in ages..."

Oh, and watching the Dunfermline vs St Mirren match. I missed football, and watching this, still missing it :D

I hope your not going on about the 1999 final because that was nowhere close to matching Istanbul in any stretch of your imagination. ''Well beaten'' at 1-0?

I support Arsenal.

Man United's comeback beats Liverpool's by a country mile. However good Liverpool's was, they actually drew the match and won on penalties. Meh.

Oh, and Man United's sycophantic fans are slightly less annoying than Liverpool's.

You 'hope'?! Does that scare you?!

I understand anyone suggesting I'm biased but 1999 had a hell of a lot more drama than the Liverpool final. Yes 'well beated' because up until the 89th minute we had no way through to Bayern. They absorbed everything we threw at them, until THAT corner...

Don't get me wrong, on a sporting level I'll agree Liverpool's final was exciting but I think most sensible people will agree that United's final had that little bit more.

I just like good football. But i seen Man Utd's game, because there seemed to be a chance (only 1 down). Whilst Liverpool, I think I switched off at half time...but no doubt would have been excited if I'd watched it live :D

The Man City Sergio Aguero deal has been completed, he's signed a 5 year contract.. I think he'll play really well with Silva feeding him balls

Yes Aguero is a player l have watched a lot on Sky's spanish footballl and he is a very talented player and in my mind he is better then Tevez.

He's more of a front man than Tevez.. Tevez though is a better all rounder..

My worry though is if he can make the change in style from Spanish to English football

Well we did it last year...

City though need to prove that they won't do their usual and self destruct for the middle of the season as they do normally start and finish well.

So who's the top three Russ... City, Chelsea and Arsenal??

---------- Post added at 19:18 ---------- Previous post was at 19:09 ----------

Talking of Arsenal I wonder if the talk of Fabregas and Nasri going is true and how they'll cope losing two such play makers..

In my opinion this is by far the best signing city have made since they came into money. It might take him a month or two to adapt, like it did Silva, but he will be a quality player for city in the long run.

Maybe, but as the amateur teams can't afford him, and 5 a side is out...then he has gone to the best side otherwise :D

But in regards to this which one is just trying to strengthen the team and who is still trying to build the team? Same can be said for the teams in London, Liverpool and everywhere else?

This is just IMHO:erm:

IM 0-2 MC ------- 40 seconds into the 2nd half, Dzeko :D

Very supervised that Aguero isn't on the bench as it would have made a good last 20 minutes sub for him to find his place in the team
