Jun 2011 Yohan Cabaye Lille £TBC
Jun 2011 Demba Ba Unattached Free Jun 2011 Sylvain Marveaux Stade Rennes £TBC Jul 2011 Mehdi Abeid Unattached Free Including agent fee's and wages the money is right there. There was never any plans on blowing £35million on a single player. With bidding ongoing for an un-named striker I'm pleased with current business. I recall Andy Carroll scoring quite a few, I also recall Nolan scoring a bundle from starting as a Centre Forward. But lets base it on facts rather than opinion, Newcastle were 6th for goals scored, 3 behind Liverpool and 4 behind Manchester City. January came and Carroll left. People claimed we couldn't score goals. Arsenal fans learnt the hard way. |

What he spends his money on is none of our business. I doubt he is on Par with Abramovich's Yacht.
Unless you are suggesting he pockets the income of Newcastle United? |
Re: Football Season 2011/12
Wayne Bridge will be a good buy but again it depends on what wages they're giving him.
I don't expect big money buys, just be sensible with the funds and buy people who are certainly committed to the club without having to buy their commitment. |

Norwich, QPR and Swansea will take a battering next season but one of them should survive with a bit a luck and we will see Wolves or Wigan make the drop.
The difference between Premierleague and Championship football is a lot bigger than people make it out to be. Take West Brom and Newcastle's championship campaign in what turned out to be the most one sided title race which was wrapped up Christmas with both teams securing unchallenged promotion a month or so before the season had finished. More to the point of the Premierleague Title, Hopefully Arsenal can stop dropping points in easy games and actually make it somewhat of an interesting season with more than 2 title challengers. I see Chelsea winning it in the end but I do not see the Champions league trophy at Stamford bridge unless the special one is in the hot seat. |

Its funny though because when the 3 from the premierleague drop, They usually steamroll championship opposition and come right back up so It's nice to see Swansea, QPR and Norwich who have not been about either at all or for a few seasons.
Whether its just the fact that Newcastle's relegation was just unlucky or not still doesn't stop Birmingham, West Ham or West Brom burying championship teams when they do drop. |
Re: Football Season 2011/12
Southampton, Sheff Utd, Watford, Derby, Leeds, etc never came straight back up more relegated yet again. I'd say Newcastle was the anomaly.

Most of the teams mentioned there James were in a real crisis, Leeds being the more high profile crisis than the others.
What I mean are teams that bounce up and down all the time. Sunderland were a club that were in and out of that league easily. Usually one promoted club survives the drop but both West Brom and Newcastle proved their Premierleague credentials whilst Blackpool had a good run and an awesome first try. they just did not cut it out. When 3 teams come up that have been championship clubs for years.. Its going to be a dose of battering's week in week out and usually and here's to hoping that one of them can pull of a string of results to keep them above an unfortunate club.. Probably Wolves :p: Sorry Norwich and QPR fans but I do hope it's Swansea :D |

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Newcastle are unfortunately about to be thrown into turmoil by another player revolt led by non other than Jose Enrique.
Both Barton and Enrique are kicking up a fuss for two completely different reasons. Barton is kicking a fuss because he wants to spend the rest of his Career in a Newcastle shirt and Enrique is questioning the 35m transfer funds which are going nowhere. Seems to me like they wanted Barton to leave this summer for a price rather than have him refuse and see his contract out. Enrique they also want out, Stating he wasnt interested in a highest earner contract but rather money spent on quality players. To my reckoning we enjoyed 35m in January. Nolan to West ham - 4+ Million Enrique to ****** - 7-15 Million Cabaye to Newcastle - 5 million Marveaux to Newcastle - 5 million Demba ba to Newcastle - Free Possible Striker - Free - 10 million Ben Arfa - 5+Million Defender to replace Enrique - Free - 7 million We are selling all of our best players apparently.. He fails to see that we are also replacing them with new and what could be proved to be better talent. I'm sorry but Tiote replacing Alan Smith was a godsend. So nothing is being spent.. Apart from the £17 million a few weeks ago on 3 players and the Incoming Striker + The defender to replace Enrique.. Newcastle United.. Soap's and Footie on one channel! |

Nah he's just naffed we stole all there monies in January.
Also something to discuss is Chelsea, and Both of the Manchester's lack of interest in the new Uefa policy coming into action soon. Teams cannot spend more than they bring in. Platini loses the Premierleague and I'm afraid you dont have a very interesting 'Champions League' pal. |

Re: Football Season 2011/12
You still had an easy run to Qualify for the Europa league or even the Champions League after Kenny arrived. In FACT. He lost 7 games last season in charge.. The same amount as his predecessor?
We are inconsistent? With the current squad of Liverpool and the sheer calibre and money spent with one goal.. to win a Premierleague Title which still has not happened and we are the ones that are inconsistent. A promoted club from the championship that only managed 12th place and losing the same amount of games as Liverpool. Your not the big 4 club anymore. Facts are better than opinions. I'll be the first to admit I'm a Newcastle fan and we are far from a brilliant team. But Liverpool were absolutely crap whether you like it or not. But I suppose it was all Rafa's fault. The man that delivered you the most memorable comeback in history to win a 5th Champions league. Maybe you should point the finger at your underperforming players rather than the Owner or the Manager because they are responsible for the downfall! Torres couldn't score in a brothel. |

Re: Football Season 2011/12
The Premier League does serve as a useful milestone in when football became a commercial giant and had a big increase in popularity. It's not just the case that the name of the league changed, a different type of league took it's place. Hence the dominance of certain teams who were well positioned to take advantage of the massive revenues generated in the last 15 years.

To put another point forward. There was a premier league before the "English Premier league", in scotland.
Of course, as soon as England renamed their league, Premier league became synonymous with English league. Gripe over :D |

As for the Premier(ship) League it is so different than the old Division 1 that I don't think a title 30 years ago is comparable to a title these days.. The teams, players and the rules are a lot tougher and professional. |

Re: Football Season 2011/12
Just to add my two pennies worth:
The "Premiership" is a rugby union league. The top flight of English football is called the Premier League, not Premiership and has been for about 4 years now. So please stop calling it the latter. Thank you. |

Indeed, on a more serious note rather than the usual anti-Liverpool banter. There is no doubt they have terrific fans home & away and they truly deserve Premierleague glory.
One of my favourite moments in football involves Liverpool which I'm sure everyone will remember as possibly the greatest football match in recent history or of all time! Liverpool 3p-3 AC Milan I bet somewhere.. Sir Alex was on his feet! |

I understand anyone suggesting I'm biased but 1999 had a hell of a lot more drama than the Liverpool final. Yes 'well beated' because up until the 89th minute we had no way through to Bayern. They absorbed everything we threw at them, until THAT corner... Don't get me wrong, on a sporting level I'll agree Liverpool's final was exciting but I think most sensible people will agree that United's final had that little bit more. |
