£149 for the box and install is going to have VM a larger number of sign ups than had they charged the £40. Good work VM and hope that those thinking about Tivo will jump at this as for £149 the box is seriously worth it. Can I just confirm something DF? Those of us VIPs who have already had Tivo installed and are paying the £3 a month, will we see this automatically change on our bills going forward? |

Does the £149 have to be paid upfront or is it added to the bill ?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
A much better deal @ £149 no install charges BUT and i dont mean to moan as such .... WHY didnt VM simply say this in advance in the previous email ?
It would have saved considerable whinging and moaning & irate customers on forums if they had stated all that in the emails they sent out to 'Dean' . Personally with the current bugs and lacking features IMHO the product is still overpriced simply because things like the red button operations are missing and that means the product is unfinished and unpolished. These kinds of functions should have been working from the start or it gives the appearance of a beta product not a premium product. Still personally edging towards not bothering until they give me the box for nowt which as a VIPer they will have to do eventually and personally all the features may sound great but they add up to zipp without the content on the network in the first place and VM have been reluctant to add new content in the last 9 months. Hope everyone who wants gets and enjoys TiVo but still dont think its worth it for my viewing habits. :) |

DF Thanks so much for this info. :hyper:
I'm sure I speak for 99% of people on here that this is very welcome news indeed. The £3 discount to VIP50 is a welcome addition. Not quite the major change in VIP bundle I was expecting but it is a start. I would like to think our emails to the CEO have kind of worked but it does seem they may have listened to some of our points. :gpoint: |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
This is excellent news, I wasn't worried about the monthly charge or the £149 upfront, I just felt the installation fee was not fair. But like others have said why didn't they just announce this info in the email. I hope people that had a go at DF are going to or have apologised.

As staff on here have said VM will be providing clear training which will be of great use, to be honest I still don't fully understand what it can and cant do. Great news they are canning the £40 installation in April though, very wise. I assume that means for orders placed in April, not that you actually have to have it installed in April as who knows what install date you will get. |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just phoned up the Tivo team and it can be ordered from the 18th april not the 11th !!!! and (wait for it) they also reckon that VIP 50 customers STILL pay the £40 install price!!!! WHAT is going on????????????
The lady even checked and said it was definitely the 18th and £40 install!!!! Do the tivo team not know about there own deals???:mad::mad: |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
jpa it's probably just not gotten through the system grapevine yet. As long as they know what the price should be when it's time for ordering then I'll be happy lol.
The wavering of the install fee is a good move and that's probably enough to encourage me to get it. I presume that means we just need to order in April rather than get it installed in April? (taking demand into account) It's a bit of a shame the £3 discount doesn't also apply to VIP 20/30. Don't really see why considering VIP 50 already get the Sky HD premium for free on a box. Though if I lose the V+ charge for my second box (when I replace it with Tivo) then it'll work out as a £7 discount anyway so I'd be more than happy with that. Is this confirmed? Would seem a bit odd to effectively get a £7 discount for changing to a better box but the V+ charge is £10 so don't see how else they'd arrange that. Otherwise I'd be getting charged £13 for the Tivo box. |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Technical question that hopefully someone can answer.
At the moment we have a Samsung V+ box with the HDMI connection going to a DVI input on a Philips TV. This obviously does not carry audio. To get audio we have the audio from the VCR SCART connected to the audio in on the TV. Can anyone confirm if this is possible on the TIVO or if there is an audio out connector on the TIVO which could connect directly to the audio in on the TV Thanks David |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Another quirk to report.
There is a show on called Wheeler Dealers on Discovery. Each episode is split into two parts shown back to back My TiVo has been recording it as a suggestion, however it only ever records the first 30 minute part and never the 2nd part. TiVo needs to understand that it must record both parts ! |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
I have a quick question - to save me having to read through everything to get the answer ...
I've had my Tivo for about three or four weeks now having signed up as soon as I was aware of it (existing VM customer, S1 Tivo left connected to phone line for wishlists but still with Sky programme numbers) so does this make me a "VIP" or not? If so, what's the benefit? If not, should I give a damn?? |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
VIP means the VIP bundle i.e. these http://shop.virginmedia.com/bundles/...e-package.html

Two querys
I presume we will need to go to sales to upgrade to VIP50 from VIP20 and not via the online ordering, when ordering the TIVO and getting upgraded to VIP50 at the same time which I am thinking of doing Will we be able to keep the V+ box like some of the people who have had TIVO installed said, and how much will it cost us to keep it |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2
Rjs37 says : It's a bit of a shame the £3 discount doesn't also apply to VIP 20/30. Don't really see why considering VIP 50 already get the Sky HD premium for free on a box.
I have VIP50 and pay for my Sky HD premium and never heard of being able to get it free on a box, charge is £7.00 per box. sorry if I`ve not done this right (first post) |

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

VIP50 is £100.55 with the Sky HD channels included, and for anyone with Tivo, the monthly cost of that is included as well. Very much a good deal if you are wanting all the services with Tivo as well. One thing I am wondering though is, I have an extra V+ box as well as the VHD and Tivo box. I currently pay an extra £6.50 for this. If I was to upgrade to a Tivo box to replace the V+ would my extra charge go from £6.50 to £3 (for Tivo). If it will then I might replace my V+ to have 2 Tivos and the VHD. |
Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Looks like there are enough boxes, but are there enough engineers!! ;) Those poor guys will be clocking up the mileage! |

You will still see the charge on your bill as this still has to be paid to Sky, but it will be refunded in the bundles discount for VIP50. |
