They could do with a course from The Plain English society in VM marketing dept then. As they are struggling to get the right message across.;)

Not true. it will be fully functional in Late Spring, but the RB launching in a few weeks.

Is there anything i'm missing re Sky Arts HD, as you advise I am pretty sure I have read their statements on this in full over the last 6 months.

Sky's website is a bit of a maze, and as for BT!!

Corporate gobbledegook from all three, i'm sure I am guilty of it too.

Cheers DF, hopefully April then when the prices rise. As you quite rightly say if we want more content we should expect to pay more, and I will.

And with TiVo the platform is in place

Virgin intend to reach 50 HD Channels by the end of the year

There will be more SD Channels arriving (some will be +1)

Did Neil Berkett drop you as a baby LOL :D

Certain things Virgin do annoy me from time to time and the lack of channel updates can be frustrating however if I felt the way you did I'd have moved to sky ages ago.

are you sure? :D

If VM gave dates for everything they were going to do, it would be commercial suicide.

Competitors would plan things to spoil launches & get to content before them. Remember the merger with ITV? ;)

That article states VM had a penetration rate of 38 percent (1.4 million customers) so I would imagine HD is highly important to the bigwigs at VM.

In an investors presentation Neil Berkett stated there would be 80 HD channels within 2-3 years , so if you say 3 years thats 17 a year.

Sky's red button app is totally incompatible with the cable software/hardware. it has been written from scratch with VM and Sky, so yes - it's technical ;)

Surely if the red button was coming they would have mentioned it in their latest advert? Virgin don't exactly advertise very often. Given that sky have just heralded Atlantic I would have thought virgin would want to strike back tv wise asap? Obviously not!

Could anyone (and I mean you DF ;) xxx ) confirm if the red button on Sky Sports will include Football First/Match Choice. My brother in law wants to know :)

The reason I ask is that Sky seemed to suggest (on their compare and contrast web advert) that VM would only get a warered down version of Red button but from the list i saw on VM website it looks pretty much like everything.

Football first/match choice would seem the obvious one they would leave us out of.

Cheers :)

I noticed VM didn't specifically mention Cricket Red Button on their website, it does say 'and more' or something like that but given they mentioned less popular sports I found it a bit surprising. We will see.

Lots of people i suspect do subscribe like myself for the cricket not to have any Red Button coverage on the cricket would be a major omission, and i suspect cricket being a major sport for subscription reasons will be on the red button particularly as we are told it is the "full" red button that is coming, sky itself does not overly promote red button on the cricket unless you are watching or visit the cricket live on sky sports fixtures list on its website.:)

Cheers for that, I never knew it had been confirmed a full red button service was being provided, good news. I was going by Sky's website that said only 'some' would be available and that there was no mention of Cricket on the VM site.

Hi mersey 70 thats ok ,i read cannot rmember where that vm are due to get the full red button,i have seen the sky website and indeed it says "some" unless it means full red button on sky sports 1/2 and no red button on 3/4 like the HD,but i am sure after the sale of vmtv channels part of the deal was the full red button services, just a question of waiting and seeing now i think.;)

Yes - I only subscribe to Sky Sports at all because of their magnificent Cricket coverage

Football is something of a yawn - the scoreline hardly never moves - often the score is 0-0

The cricket stats and replays are a very important part of the fun of watching cricket - which is why the red button is so very very needed for the Cricket World Cup - here's hoping !

looks like your CS agent not up to speed. from VM's website ( sorry if quoted before)

"We’re giving you more control with Sky Sports red button.

Soon it will be even easier to catch your team on telly, thanks to the Sky Sports red button.
If they’re not showing on the main channel, all you need to do is press the red button on your remote control, and Bob’s your uncle, you can scroll through all the games and select your side. It’ll work for all 2011-2012 Barclays Premier League matches, plus any UEFA Champions League match, ATP tennis, US Open, Heineken Cup and more. Plus, your clever red button unlocks loads of news and stats, too. And an extra bonus, from late spring you can use it to track down smaller sports events, games or highlights, too. Just keep an eye out for the red button appearing on your Sky Sports premium channels. Nice one!"

I filled in a feedback form about ESPNA HD last July 2010 and got a reply that turned out to be from India, telling me that it would be starting on the 7th August, However, this was totally false as we all know and when I complained all I was told was that the person who wrote the reply was using the info from 2009 when ESPN HD launched and ESPNA was relaunched. I would just put it down to human error.

Interesting sky state some interactive service available from 2011 , which suggests not a full service.

Yes, I mentioned this the other day to DF...

I think (sadly for you footie fans) that the "extended highlights of the Barclays Premier League" WON'T be on VM.....

Nice one!

If that is the case i would take it Virgin got the best deal from sky they could which would not be ideal for customers but better then no Red Button at all,it seems for the living channels which is all sky were really after,vm were able to get a 9 year carriage deal, sky 1 Hd,Red Button interactive and the option although not taken up yet to have sky arts 1/2 HD which all in all seems not too bad a deal. But for the football fans out there i hope football first match choice is included after all £22.50 a month for all sky sports channels is pretty hefty.

I am sorry but l believe it was a poor deal in the long one as virgin should have insisted on having everything included in the deal, we are still waiting for quite a bit in this deal and this was done 9 months ago.

Red button will launch in a couple of weeks time someone said.
Those weeks have come and gone and the Cricket World cup has started and still NO RED BUTTON!! What the hell is going on?
I disconnected my phone line today next step tv and then broadband.
The p**** footing around by all concerned has left me in despair and I have had enough, with a heavy heart i will be joining the other lot.

We can only tell you information that is not going to get us sacked and all the help and information we provide is as accurate as possible and given in our own free time.

So if you dislike the information provided on this forum then go elsewhere as the are other forums out there probably with hardly any genuine staff members giving the help and advice that we offer.

For people fearing they will miss out on some matches due to the red button can subscribe to sky sports on sky for the duration of the World Cup. It's no big deal, all you need is a sky dish and box and they will switch it on. If you have no card they will send you one for free.

Sky cannot offer me a service so i will watch on one of their highlight shows on sky sports on vm.

Which is why Red Button on VM will be so useful.

I for one would like to thank digital fantastic and other vm staffers for trying to keep us informed

obviously the red button issue is a very important one which is why people are getting a bit over-reactive

whilst I would like it now so I can red button the Cricket World Cup I can wait til April - always hoping for earlier news
