Barewolf, perhaps the main reason people are like this now is that you hardly or never listen to advice given to you. And if you are sick of this forum so go to another but with your attitude you'll have the same within the next few weeks.

Giving advice and imposing views are two different things, flaming, name calling, and slandering is against all forum rules.

Im glad you have the powers to step into my mind and personally know for a fact if i had taken any advice, but just for those less fortunate not to have your powers,

I SAID ONCE.........I HAD TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT WHAT EVERYONE SAID, AND THAT WAS NO THEY WOULDNT BUY A 3D TV AND WHY THEY WOULDNT.

So once again, goodbye, farewell, enjoy your bickering and bitching between eachother.

Well more fool you Barewolf especially considering that there is still not enough content to warrant the 3DTV purchasing at the moment, hence why i didn't get one when i got my new TV.

Also there is still the matter of which type of 3D screen is going to win in the end, as there are 2 or 3 different type's at the moment.

3DTV may be the future as said before but that doesn't mean we should all rush out and buy something, that is extremely overpriced and under utilised at the moment.

Before i even think of getting a 3DTV i have allot of thing's that i can use my money for as in paying debts off, saving for important things coming up and then i will look at a 3DTV but that won't be till next year when the decision has been made as to which screen type, is going to become the mainstream screen and when there will be sufficient content and the TVs will be a hell of a lot cheaper for the, price that you have paid for your 63" next year you will probably be able to get to of them at that size for that price.

There was no point asking for advice if you were not going to listen to it, and it would not surprise me if you had actually ordered it before you posted and that this really was just to try and brag about it, i guess the moral is don't give Barewolf advice when he asks as he won't listen and will do the opposite to what you tell him.

I feel sorry for you Barewolf obviously you must have the very latest stuff no matter the cost even if you are getting ripped off, i was the same but i have now seen it is foolish and would much rather wait and know i am getting what i should get instead of wasting money.

Well i know i won't be giving you anymore advice in the future if you ask for it because you just don't listen and enjoy the nice big bill when it comes through for something that would of cost a quarter of the price in about 6-8 months time anyway.

I dont care if you blackrep me etc for it you just shouldnt be asking for advice and then not listen to it, when people tell you not to waste your money i asked for advice on graphics cards and was told to wait or get a ati if i must have one now but i am going to wait and see what happens over the next few months, but all i am going to do in the mean time is buy a cheap card for my dad and then take my 2nd gtx280 of him and go back to sli.

couldnt agree more & it leads me to believe that the point in this trend was to merely big himself up, i find it quite amusing tho that it has backfired & rightly so imo.

Re: 3d tv

I'm still not sure about 3DTV yet, the price is way over the top for one, and I've seen a few films at the cinema in 3D and at the start of the film I did think wow, but by half way through I had to take a break from it and wished I was watching the film in 2D. I also didn't like the lack of colour when using the glasses.

I'm sure it'll appeal to some, and I reckon gaming might be a laugh on it, but I still think it's too much of a gimmick and I reckon the novelty of it all would wear off quite quickly for me. So I reckon unless the price comes right down or when it's the norm for a TV to be able to view 3D (years away or never), I don't think I'll be considering one.

Out of curiosity how old is the tv because if it is over 12 months there is no warranty left, also you would have to inform the catalogue that you were selling it for the warranty to change hands.

I have seen things worth several thousand of pounds worth of thing's, being sold for a few hundred of pounds because they were sold in a auction and at the end, of it they had the highest bid.

to be fair you never know with eBay iv sold items brand new at a loss & sold items second hand for more then they cost new (& can still be brought new) & of course both have worked the other way round in the past. it just depends who bids & how much on the day.

Will 3D TV succeed?

The Register has an interesting opinion piece on it. Basically they are saying that they think it might not. Apparently it will happen purely because the TV companies are going to have to build support in in case their competitors do, and people may show more interest when there is more content available.

Their reasons for suggesting it might not? Twofold.

1) Apparently in surveys, customers have shown more interest in Internet connections than 3D.
2) There is apparently anecdotal evidence that 3D in cinema is not doing as well as expected, which would suggest that people aren't going to see 3D films after the novelty value has worn off.

Avatar did well. The others have not necessarily. I suspect that's the reason behind Disney rushing Alice in Wonderland to Blu Ray.

Yet with all the hype, the top 20 only contains two 3d movies..
http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/.../domestic/data

I think where 3d is probably suffering at the moment is it's being used to bolster up films that would otherwise not get the publicity and not do so well. This means it is being added to films that were not made for 3d and I think unless Hollywood stops doing that, 3d will suffer because people will associate it with bad images.

zing_deleted 08-07-2010 20:39

Re: 3d tv

I think you will find its a lack of screens. It took ages for my local cinema to upgrade and now it has 2. Cost of this update has been prohibited.

At one stage 3 films were being shown on only 1 screen its never gonna work that way is it?

I still think 3D cinema is the future

Look at the current US top 10 Last Air Bender , Shrek forever after , Toy Story 3D

Toy story 3 is close to top 20 and not even full released yet it will imo hit top 10

What do you class a box office hit? Was Star Trek 2009 a box office hit? 127th Shrek forever after has almost caught up with it. Loads of 3d films above it( imdb global listing)

peanut 08-07-2010 21:14

Re: 3d tv

The films I have seen in 3D was because they were in 3D, as it was all new. But the novelty has now worn off for me, in future I'll probably stick to 2D.

At a push I might see Shrek or Toy Story in 3D, films like those, but for films like Saw etc I won't watch them in 3D as you tend to lose too much of what's going on.

Re: 3d tv

I do believe the point of the article in The Register is to question the value people place on 3d. It's all very well stating that Shrek, Harry Potter, Alice et al have or are expected to do well, but is that because of 3d? Also, is it well enough? If Wikipedia is to be believed, the sequel to Superman Returns was cancelled despite S.R. doing quite well at the box office. The sequel was cancelled because it did not do well enough.

Not denying that.. But a turd with bling is still a turd.

I'll ask this. Apart from Avatar, which earned almost 2/3rds of it's income from 3d showings, how many films have done well based purely on their 3d showings?

---------- Post added at 01:21 ---------- Previous post was at 01:05 ----------

Anyway, it may appear I am attacking 3d. I am not. I like 3d films. I just think that if hollywood keeps using it as a gimmick to bolster films they don't think will do well by converting them at the last minute, it will ultimately fail because people will be disillusioned with the films produced.

James Cameron would seem to agree.

From http://www.deadline.com/2010/03/mich...e-jury-is-out/
Quote:

“After Toy Story, there were 10 really bad CG movies because everybody thought the success of that film was CG and not great characters that were beautifully designed and heartwarming,” Avatar’s James Cameron told me recently. "Now, you’ve got people quickly converting movies from 2D to 3D, which is not what we did. They’re expecting the same result, when in fact they will probably work against the adoption of 3D because they’ll be putting out an inferior product.”

zing_deleted 09-07-2010 08:48
