Anyone else think Clarkson's quip about The Stig being mistaken for a Brazilian electrician on the tube was a bit distasteful?
Not as bad as some recent ones - it's become a bit too cruel recently and they need to lighten up. I took the joke as being at the expense of the police, who I notice later had a nice cameo showing how much of a police state London is now. Blair Out!

Mind you, the cross-London race was fun, the first bit was all around where I live. They hamstrung the poor old Stig, though, as no one sane would go that route from Kew to LCY. Ahem. You'd go District-Jubilee-DLR since the Jubilee is extremely fast while the interchange at Monument is a bloody long walk. You'd also get on at Kew Gardens directly rather than get a bus to Gunnersbury first, which gets you snarled up on the South Circular and Chiswick Roundabout. This was evidently done to keep the bike, car and PT routes close. Oh, and his Oyster would have worked fine at Gunnersbury, straight onto the platform.

/me is taken away muttering about while you're at it, James May, why not go over Hammersmith flyover and avoid the roundabout...

I still want that speedboat though.

Exactly. Very astute observations can often be found in humour. Bottom line these days is that anyone looking non-British (i.e. not white) and wearing a backpack, could potentially be shot - if they're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And all this on the day we remember those who gave their lives for our freedom, huh. Hmmm.

That purple car was a nice idea - shame it's a death trap with terrible steering :D

No.

Do you write to Points Of View too to complain about stuff ?

Too much time on your hands if you ask me.

didnt think the jibe about De Menendez was bad...saw the humour of it in some ways.

I already had a funny feeling that the hamster would win the race, especially against the car. Jeremy on the boat hmmm I always thought there was a speedlimit near the houses of parliament.

Definately not, Jeremy is one of the most un-PC presenters on tele, which I admire him for.

I saw all three yesterday at MPH 07 in Birmingham in their live show, they were brilliant and as usual didn't care what they said.

This is what makes them stand out from other pathetic boring presenters who are scared of upsetting the people that give them their big fat pay cheques.

I suspect his family are slightly more concerned about being lied to and patronised by those in charge of policing in London (and directly responsible for the cockup that killed him, the cover up afterwards, the attempt to delay the investigation and the subsequent attempt to smear their dead son in court at public expense) to worry about one TV presenter having a pop at the Met Police. In the context of what our country needs to get on its knees and apologise to them for, that's fairly low down the list.

Went to MPH at Earls Court a couple of years ago, was excellent.

I thought the same. It was at the expense of the coppers in my opinion.

Anyway back to top Gear, I managed to catch the Polar Special on Dave yesterday, that was pretty awesome wasn't it. And the Africa one was excellent too.

This has to be one of the pest programmes on TV, and any motoring show that can get my wife as a regular viewer must be doing something right.

For some reason, I'm not finding this series as laugh out loud funny as some of the others. The African special was good but not as good as the American special. The channel crossing not as good as the original amphibious cars etc. The cross London race was very good however.

But still, one of three programs on the BBC that I pay my licence for. :)

You forgot the word 'imaginary' just before 'PC'. We've been through this before, haven't we?

Yeah - Lewis Hamilton. He's lovely  Such talent - that lap was easy for him, you could tell. I think the Hamster demonstrated the physical strength and mental agility needed to drive an F1 car :D

I was a bit suspicious of the BMW, though. AFAIK, GPS is not that accurate - about 2 or 3 metres out.

It was until a few years ago, the US millitary removed the accuracy bug, they are now very acurate

I'm betting it does not work by gps alone.. It will have cameras , computers and radar installed in order to work so well.
