Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
Clearly they have a 100%+ profit margin on existing 1mbit customers. I think the £9.99 is profitable for them, its otherwise financial suicide.

I can confirm this is not a wind up you ring the number and tell them you want it at £9.99 and they respect you the customer instead of arguing the toss. I am now on this deal. :)
no problems but I await my next direct debit to be sure it's been applied! |

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
It must depend on who you get on the phone as I have just rung and been told "brand new customers only" lol
Oh well never mind it is good value at £17.99 any way :) |
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
it is indeed good value, I think if you try again and speak to someone else you will get it. persistance pays.

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
I was on the £17.99 1mb service. I phoned Customer Retentions yesterday and they say I'm now on the £9.99 tariff like new signups. This was done without any argument. They did say I wouldn't see it on my statement for 30 days, so I'm yet to be completely convinced.
(Can you tell I've been with NTL for a while? I think it's the cynicism that gives it away). |
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
I am starting to feel victimised here, every one seems to be ringing up and getting it cheaper but me lol

If the cost price is £10 and the sale price is £20 then the profit is £10, which is a percentage profit of 50%. The markup is £10 and is a 100% markup. Therefore it is possible to have 100%, 200%, etc. markup but never possible to have higher than 100% profit and only then if the cost price was free. |

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
I phoned ntl CS earlier this week after I thought that paying £24.99 for a 750Kb connection was a bit steep. Yes, that's £24.99 for 750Mb. Have been doing so for years!!! Now am on 1Mb at £9.99. Wish ntl would charge a price based on the service you get rather than whether you're a new customer or not.

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
the girl who shares my office who has phone/tv & dial-up just phoned to upgrade to the 1mb and was told that as she's a "triple pack customer" he could offer her a deal and gave her an "time unlimited" discount of £9.50 against her bill so that her broadband will cost only £8.49 !!!!!! - I have been a ntl customer for years and have 2 x phone/tv with family pack and 3 mb broadband and have never been offered any sort of deal - do you think its worth phoning
|
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
It can't do any harm to try, I am ringing retentions later today, I am not going to threaten to take my business away I am just going to have a word and see if I can get some sort of offer.
I talked to a very nice lady and I now have BB for £9.99 a month for 12 months so I am happy :) Oh and please don't flame me as I didn't lie, shout or demand to get it and they still get a lot of money off me every month :) |
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
phoned customers service tonight to ask about disconnecting my broadband and 2nd phone line as I wanted to go to bulldog for the 8mb broadband and they have asked me to phone retentions tomorrow before I confirm the disconnection as they might be able to offer me a "deal" - will phone tomorrow and see what they say
|
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
I think it's only fair of me to point out that Bulldog are having major problems at the moment.
They have 1.5 hour waits on the phone most of the day and can only get ~80% of connections done on time :( |

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
Rang retentions today (0800 052 1474) & explained I was unhappy about how much I was paying for TV, extra box, BB & phone.
The upshot is BB for £9.99 for 1 year, & free SkySports 1,2 & 3 for 1 year (currently £13.50) . Effective 'saving' £21.50 per month. Also, there's no 1 year tie-in, which is a bonus I wasn't expecting. All in all, pretty happy with that. The CS rep was also very polite & helpful. :tu: for a change! |
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
"SkySports 1,2 & 3 for 1 year (currently £13.50) "
I pay £17 for that, did you already have a discount? |

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
Nope prices I got quoted are.
£14.50 for base + phone +£17 for sky sports 1,2,3 (no longer single channels available on analogue) now I just checked the pdf file for 2005 prices, and for analogue I see this Base pack £14 Base pack with sky sports 1,2 (3 is free I think) £31 this makes it £17 as they said. for digital the prices are £21.50 base (ouch) £41.50 base+ sky sports collection, so £20 for digital. ---edit--- Having a further look I guess you have the family pack? sky sports is cheaper when you have family or mid pack on digital. digital family - £30 - with sky sports - £43.50 analogue family - £24 - with sky sports £41 the discount doesnt stick for analogue tho. You know if I was on Family pack I would be ringing retentions now demanding a discount since people on analogue getting a raw deal on the higher packages considering they have dozens less channels. |
Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
just checked my NTL account today by ringing up billing and they have confirmed I'm on the £9.99 package as per what retentions put me on.

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99
