My PACE STB had intermitten problems, the engineer arrived next day fixed the problem although I could not reproduce the problem. As a bonus he gave me a Samsung box. To be honest I cannot tell any difference in performance terms, but its refreshing to have something new

Yes, I do not notice much difference. They say is faster but I do not really see it. But the fault is gone for good I had no more black frozen screens

The challenge is still for anyone including "th'engineer" to say that the Pace STB is as good as the Samsung STB.. the only proviso for the sake of fairness is you do not know the customers particular circumstances.

But as I've already said the argument is won...everyone deserves the latest Samsung STB or whatever replaces it and is better. :angel:

The only loser is the contributor who got bombed with negs and the Moderator had to remove the posts!! :mad: :mad: :mad:

Fine I'll say it. In 99.9% of cases the Pace STB works just as well as the Samsung one.

Do you work for Ntl DigitalVictor. Do you have in depth knowledge of the inside workings of both boxes? No you don't. Other people on this board do and work with them day in/day out and don't have a problem with them. The Pace boxes are perfectly fit for the purpose they are designed for.

I just called NTL and they are sending an engineer out in the morning to look at my box :)

What's more the message said it was a 20min wait time..... they scared the crap out of me when they picked up straight away :)

BTW - I have three pace boxes which are working perfectly (and have for the last four years I have had them).

I think you will find that is not your decision. :)

ANSWERS

1. I feel I deserve better from the Team! The fact that most of the posters disagree with me is irrelevant.

Factually no-one can categorically state that the Pace is equal to or better than the Samsung nor has any one said so. The Samsung is a better box end of story.

If the Samsung is a better box, so far undisputed, then anyone who wants one should be supplied by NTL without quibble.

That is the argument, finished, in a nutshell.

2. Why then has our young friend been "neg bombed" and posts crowing over the red reps deleted by the TEAM.

3. I belong to many forums and will post where and when I choose.

4. Aren't you lucky. That is not the typical experience of most NTL customers and I doubt that yours have worked perfectly for four years. I do not question your veracity but your perception.

5. Locking a thread is up to the Team but when you have to delete posts from members off topic and unable to argue against incontrovertible fact the thread is dead in any case.

Digitalvictor, people like you and Robert Atkins are so single minded and self centred if everyone had your attitude ntl would either go bankrupt or just hike our monthly bills up to get the money back, you pay for a service not a stb, you get the same service if your box is black, silver or pink with yellow dots on, if you do not like the service due to faults go to another provider. Why should you think you have the god given right to have every thing new?


I have now read several times people having pace stb's (I have 2) and are happy with them so you 2 are in the minority on this thread so will you please leave us alone you spoilt little brats......

I have two pace STB's there has been issues with them but we do not live in a perfect world do we? Where everything works 100% of the time. You keep going on with your opinions - which you keep casting off as a facts which you are simply asking for trouble if you think you can just make sweeping statements without justification.

The Samsung STB's might be better but my pace boxes do their job. Having an arguement over which is better reminds me of being back in the school playground. :cool:

digitalvictor, the samsung box's use mostly the same hardware as the pace box's (in fact pace supply most of the chips sets for all types of digi stb's).

The reason ntl went for a samsung one was to have 2 suppliers and to put pressure on pace to correct software flaws. Since the flaws are software based these are updated to the stb's in code releases done several times a year. the samsung stb's will also have code issues but these will present themselves in different ways.

Bleat on all you like but your just 1 customer, I worked in ntls tech support for dtv and dealt with 1000's of customers some with genuine complaints some that where numpties and could not set their own tv's up dont think your a special case because you want a silver box.

Also on this forum you'll find the ntl guy that deals with the code updates (lo P), the guy that works with pace and samsung to make sure their kit works on the network ( hi N)and many ntl network people. Feel free to diss them all you like but 99% of the people here will always disagree with you ;-)
