Does anyone know when this offer for Netflix ends? I was thinking about coming back to Virgin at the end of December / beginning of January. Half price for 6 months plus free Netflix is very appealing to me.

Customer services told me today that you can apply for the Netflix six month offer until 31/12/2013. Also confirmed that you will be taking a new 12 month contract for your virginmedia services if you take the Netflix offer.

So it'll be a new 12 month deal if you want Netflix. A new 12 month deal if you want the new BB speeds next year. This could be locking some people in for 2 years.

I am tempted by both to be honest, but I also want to know what VM are doing with Sony and the PS4 before I extend anything.

I don't think it is. If you're a long term VIP customer, then if you sign a new 12 months contract, without the need to make any changes to your services, you'll get it. That's how I read it.

Do VM do anything with Sony and the PS3 just now??

where did it say that we had to have a new 12 month contract to get the new speeds I thought they were "doubling" speeds at no additional cost or is this above and beyond that i.e. next phase?

If you read the text in full, it does state that this is an "opt in" service for the upgrade, and by opting in, you are committing for an extra years contract.

Assume if you don't opt in, you don't renew your contract, but the speed is not increased

That's the choice you have to make. Personally, I think the speeds are quite good enough for my use of broadband, so I won't be going for it. I will certainly go for Netflix, though.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

What about long term customers who aren't technically on the bundles but have the equivalent or more? Are they entitled to the 6 months free Netflix?

I'm on:

T V Size: X L
Broadband XL (Up To 60mb)
Phone XL (Talk Unlimited)
Talk 08 2
2 Tivo boxes

Bill shows
Triple Combo Loyalty Discount
TiVo Monthly Fee.

For existing Netflix users, with the 6 months discount, do you still continue to pay Netflix in the same way as previously and after applying the code, Netflix just don't bill you or 6 months?

Thanks

I used to think my download speed was good, but with growing children in the house, streaming items in laptops and ipads, internet radio's etc, it will mean more capacity for me to do the things I want without stopping them

That's a Customer Relations offer, so you can't get the 6 month Netflix offer with those - you'd have to move to the Premier Collection to get the Netflix offer

MGM not coming Thursday my source got the dates mixed up sorry guys. Just can't get the bloody staff these days.
It is coming though most likely with the Sky channels when they arrive.

Is that a confirmation though from your source that both MGMHD and Sky Atlantic are definitely arriving "soon"?

They do nothing with the PS3, just back in August they announced some kind of partnership between the two companies. Probably ending up in a specific gaming orientated broadband deal. Although if they are increasing the limits in 2014, then I can't see a "Gaming Only" broadband deal coming out specifically for the PS4 release.

Also I would hope that for those long term customers that are on collections equivalent packages that they would be able to do a deal to move onto Premiere or VIP. I think they'd be happy to sort something out to tie people into a 12 month contract.

Thanks Ben.

The Premier collection isn't as good as my current bundle though as it doesn't have two Tivo boxes, XL phone or Talk 08 2.

Talk 08 2 was a free add on from VM that they offered me out of the blue via email.
