The whole thing stinks like a kipper. All part of a pattern designed to (eventually) declare an emergency of some sort. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but this is now the third time in about 2 years someone has got near Trump with a lethal weapon and yet two of those times the perp is very publicly caught with el prez never in any immediate danger, while the third Trump has a miraculous recovery from a gunshot wound to the earlobe that somehow left no evidence of any sort of scar or mark of any kind (except on the poor individual behind him in the crowd who seems to have been some kind of sacrificial lamb to Trump’s deranged, self-imposed persecution complex).

And at the first WHCA Dinner he has ever attended - what are the chances?

Re his inane wibbling on social media …. No building that allows visitors not subject to maximum security vetting is the ‘most secure building in the world.’ Granted the White House is pretty secure, but … no. ‘Most secure’ is a bunker somewhere in North Korea. In fact every building in the top 50 most secure buildings in the world will be places civilians scarcely know exist, much less get to visit.

Trump’s vanity ballroom is that, and no more. His ego in white marble, an attempt to secure a legacy for his presidency he’ll never achieve due to, you know, actually being president. Because he’s not very good at that at all.

Some relevant information

From other sources, it appears the gunman was stopped at the perimeter security checks (magnetometer gates).

Is there any actual evidence [yet] that the gunman was there for Trump ?

I guess that depends on how high the burden of proof needs to be. The authorities said he had previously written about targeting Donald Trump and other administration officials.

What’s the likelihood that the Secret Service agent who was shot may have actually been shot by one of his colleagues by accident?

Dunno, but despite all those shots, they managed to miss the intruder completely.

Apparently when they started shouting ‘shots!’ Pete Hegseth said ‘yes please!’

You seen the picture circulating just after, he seems very jovial...

In fairness, we all react to stress in different ways. Sometimes, using humour can be a way of coping with the situation. I can't imagine anywhere there enjoyed the situation.

Well Pete Hegseth was certainly looking unusually stressed before it all kicked off, almost like he was expecting something.
