Can anyone who has a TiVo tell me what the power consumption is ? Thanks

Not sure.. i know it's supposed to be a low energy unit, like to Cisco V-HD. Maybe Spiderplant knows? :)

The V HD has it written on the box, 18watts. I expect The Tivo will be a bit more than that.

I can tell you what it cant draw more than and thats 36 watts. The power adaptor is 12v 3 amps. Cant get to tivo box atm.

Regards

John.

I would think the box would draw 80% of that power so about 28 watts. In comparison the v+ is 40 watts

Good guess! It's 20W.

It may be reduced in future software releases. There are some bits of hardware that can be turned off when not in use.

I've come to learn when people promise you vapour ware, don't expect to get it any time soon. And certainly don't buy a piece of hardware based on promised features.

At the moment i'm not even 100% convinced 3rd tuner will arrive any time soon.

You are singing my song Rattus!:dunce::banghead:

That is very good compared with the V HD box, as I guess the hard drive would be running all the time in the TiVo.:D

Search Feature: If you find this unimpressive, then you shouldn't have TiVo.
I'm coming to a point where I agree with you there... Clearly that feature was much noise about nothing. When you use it, it's clunky (no support for T-9 style typing of the title, you have to navigate the on-screen keyboard, which takes forever) and there is far too much weight to people's names in the result screen. You pretty much to have to type the entire title of a programme to see it appear in the top-10 results.

Mini guide: underpowered? What does that mean????
No access to detailed info for programmes currently running on other channels without first having to switch to that channel.

Favourite Channels: how many favourites do you want??
At least one per member of my family. We watch different channels and like different programmes, and myself, I have different viewing habits depending on day and time of day

Re-ordering channels: VM don't want this.
My point entirely... And the justification for it (other than just-because-we-said-so)?

Streaming: This is something that will come a little later.. more details will be released by VM.
Another probably-maybe-one-day-if-VM feel-like-it

Remote Record: Works perfect for most. are you setting your region in the Online Guide correctly?
Absolutely!

Again, call me picky, but pretty much ALL these features have been available to me for the last 4 years on my Freeview box, through a mix of the firmware and a plugin written (and made available for free) by just a couple of guys!

TiVo are currently working on multipul user profiles at the moment. Part of the TiVo - VM deal if feature parity so we will be getting it too.

Were you a VM customer before you got a TiVo? If so what box did you have?

This is true, User Profiles will be added later this year.

The're are a few people on her saying that the V+ does everything they want, "just use your PC if you want to do anything more". That's great for you and that's your prerogative but it's my prerogative to want a TiVo. Please stop insinuating we're idiots for wanting it.

Here endeth the rant :)

So if he had posted how much he loved it that would have been OK? He has one, has (I assume) paid for it and gave his opinion.

If you want a Tivo then that's great for you and that's your prerogative but it's his prerogative to not want a TiVo (or at least be underwhelmed by the experience to date). Please stop insinuating he is idiots for not wanting it.

So only negative comments are allowed?

Everyone can have an opinion, it's just that you should be prepared to be questioned on it. Generally how forums work ;)

Well send it back as you are within your 28 days and the reason is that it is not what you expected.

Re: TiVo

Let TIVO know what features you would like to see, ok so it's meant for US TIVO users but does that matter.
