Put it this way... there is nothing "bug" wise that is wrong with TiVo... sure there may be little things, but on the whole it works brilliantly for me.

Customers are not being used as a test bed, that's what us staff where for :D

The main reason for a stage by stage roll-out was to mature the metadata and ensure everything was working as it should, ready for customers.

I don't care what ANYONE say's about it or me... even say I'm staff "so you would say that".

I love my TiVo :romance:

Well, it doesn't for me. I've had it for a bit under a week now and am very disappointed. Sure, I'll get used to it, but I really feel it's a major step back in functionality compared to my Freeview Topfield (mentioned in a post further up this thread). Bugs, I accept and I can live with whilst they are getting ironed out. Lack of feature on the other hand...

I find the interface clunky at best. The user experience is very un-polished. Why on earth are some UI screens HD quality but then it will switch to SD screens for things like Series Link recording options or settings or that sort of things (during which the current channel playback stops, not just video but audio as well). The search feature is unimpressive. The mini-guide is under-powered. And there are so few options to customise your interface or experience! Only one list of favourite channels? And not even reorderin of channels? Dude!
I can't believe that a product that has been in the making for such a long time by such a large company manages to offer such a poor experience...
I won't even mention the fact that the ethernet connection is disabled (MAJOR feature loss), which means no local network streaming; that remote recording from the online tv guide fails every time...

Paying Â£3 per month for the priviledge of going back 4 years in time? I really feel like cancelling the whole thing. I love new tech, but I hate getting disappointed with it that quickly! I hate "new" tech that's anything but...

Can you cancel TiVo within 28days? Can you cancel the Â£3 and use it as a v+ yet?

In the absence of a definitive statement from VM confusion reigns. I firmly believe we are being used as a proving ground for a new product. All this business about top 1000 and only to those who had a unique number and then it's everybody who's registered and then it's just about the whole customer base. VIP customers have been treated very shabbily.

The box is obviously not ready for release into the wild. The existing V+ is a far more appropriate unit for the vast majority of customers. Three well proven tuners and fully functioning VOD. I have had two V+ boxes since they came out and they give me all that most people will ever need.

Just because you don't want one there is no need to try and put a downer on it for people that do. And to say that V+ has no problems because yours doesn't is very narrow minded. For instance my V+ is awful (and that's both SAs I have had).

The're are a few people on her saying that the V+ does everything they want, "just use your PC if you want to do anything more". That's great for you and that's your prerogative but it's my prerogative to want a TiVo. Please stop insinuating we're idiots for wanting it.

See here's the problem that alot of staff don't get.

Things like this have been promised before and never delivered. My big worry about any VM kit is you basically get it as it comes and have absolutely no guarantee any of this other stuff will ever appear.

We were tantalised years ago by the reactivation of the ethernet port, the USB, and sata connection on the TVdrive, needless to say non of those ever happened. Again we were told VM were working on HDD upgrade solutions.. never happened.

I've come to learn when people promise you vapour ware, don't expect to get it any time soon. And certainly don't buy a piece of hardware based on promised features.

At the moment i'm not even 100% convinced 3rd tuner will arrive any time soon.

The hardware for the 3rd tuner is in the STB however the TiVo software can't use it yet, so we are just waiting on the software update to enable it.
