You mean it's never been seen as a con .

I think you’re being more pedantic than me! The Pontiff sits at the top of the money tree; it all ends up under his autocratic control. That’a fairly Ponzi.

I doubt that I've confused you! I suppose you're trying to be literal about the meaning of a Ponzi scheme.

In this case, the Pope (and/or his predecessors) is/are the "first investor" and the subscribing flock are the existing/renewable flock. Then there is whatever the Catholic church invests in so as to grow its riches.

Generally, peops know what I mean.

The CoE is another such Ponzi scheme - perhaps even more so.

No, I think he’s just assumed that English words have a natural meaning and that you wouldn’t be daft enough to invent different definitions that only you know anything about.

A Ponzi scheme is a Ponzi scheme. The word means what it means. Your only get-out here is to claim you were using it as a metaphor but in that case, the thing you’re referring to has still got to be demonstrably similar in some way or else the metaphor doesn’t work.

Thus far, it doesn’t work.

And now he wants to bring back firing squads. Okay, why? Lethal injection is far more dignified, painless and certain. Dead is dead - he might as well bring back hanging. Or the electric chair. Or crucifixion (wouldn't that bother Leo!). Or burning at the stake. Or tossing offenders out of the new (illegally-obtained, or at least unconstitutionally) Air Force One.

He's leaving a right old mess for his successor to sort out (assuming there will be one, if he doesn't pull a coup and become the dictator he obviously wants to be).

Plus he tried to nuke Iran. If they don't have nukes yet, they're likely to develop them - and use them - out of fear. Precedent: the Manhattan Project. It was driven, though they don't want to admit this, by fear of the Axis powers. In fact Germany wasn't as far along in its research as they feared.

Did he ever see Threads? Or The Day After? Or By Dawn's Early Light, even?

Broadwave to all would-be warmongers (got a bit of a Firefly fixation goin' on ATM): no-one wins even a conventional war. BUT NO-ONE CAN WIN A NUCLEAR WAR! IT IS IMPOSSIBLE!

Thing is Starmer really isn't doing as bad a job as Trump and is far less of an unstable unpredictable senile old fool.

Yes Starmer is unpopular but it could be far worse.

You miss my point, he said he would do the things he is doing. Not sure you can apply that to the UK government. Looking for were I said he is doing a good job . Have to laugh , if not so sad. Had labour door stepper ( strong English accent ) to day, said labour will sort out the health service, clearly has no idea what's happening here, there have been in charge for something like 26 years. Start to wonder of the intelligence of Labours team:shocked:
