Does anyone know what we can reasonably expect in terms of extra M+ HD channels? Just BBC HD, ITV HD, 4HD and possibly Film 4?

I ask since I think I'll be on M+ for a while, XL is a bit much for the moment and I can't see the point of L since it offers no additional HD (obviously more channels but I'm not that bothered if they're not in HD).

24 is in it's last season, I love that show too, so doubt we will see that in HD.

Film 4 HD would have been nice if the channel hadn't sold out so much in the past few years and waste so much of it's time on mainstream dreck. It used to show interesting films which the likes of Sky wouldn't touch. No longer.

Not sure bringing politics in here is a good idea, it won't end well. Probably like this election.

I have to ask in all seriousness but what on earth do you find to watch on BBCHD to keep you in a bubble?

Bravo is a pretty good channel now days, I like the Trek repeats and some of the less higher profile US shows. And they will be airing the best new show of the season Spartacus Blood and Sand.

The ad from VM on HD channels is good, BUT sad to say, Sky have more channels, and therefore VM will have to bring out a lot more channels, before people surge to VM.

Sky have promised 50 HD channels before Xmas, how many will VM have, at the same period.

Yes - Sons Of Anarchy & Leverage to name two. And because Bravo broadcasts at 720x576 it is one of the better looking SD channels - one of the best actually, I'd say. When The Unit moved to Virgin1 the PQ dropped like a stone.

It's worth remembering though, that the V-HD boxes wont be able to record anything, so it's just the EPG they will be getting. also to get the full use of HD channels, customers with V-HD need to be on XL TV.

The V-HD boxes will become the standard box at some point too.

It would be a good idea for VM to offer a good deal to V+ users to upgrade to TIVO as they tend to be higher value customers, I agree.

I think that any users that have had a V+ installed in the past 6 months or year should get a reduced price install (incidentaly that doesent include me). If you have had your box significantly longer then I think it is legitimate to assume that you have had fair usage from it and the new stuff is just that, new and should be paid for as such.

For me it will be a hassale dumping all of the stuff that I want to keep on my V+ onto DVDs. Mind you it will be nice to have equipment with a bigger hard drive - a new interface isnt really big on my list of priorities.

I only brought up politics for a joke because of the avatar's two other users have. Frankly who ever gets in this time it's not going to be good in the coming years , because of the huge debt this country is in. You will have DiscoveryHD very soon , and some say sky1HD is not far away.

i do agree that all us who paid a premium for V+ should be offered some sort of discounted upgrade package but thinking logically i doubt we will as its from the early migrators to new techonlogy that VM will make the most money and afterall VM are all about making money.
i personally would love to have a TiVO box or or close to release but after paying £150 for my V+ box (over 2 years ago) i wont be paying another £150+ again in a hurry.
what is annoying is the fact the cheap V HD box is capable of running the TiVO EPG which means the premium customers have paid a pretty penny for a V+ box that is end of life and has no upgrade path where the standard non premium customers who spend less money in general and as such VM dont profit as much from have an upgrade path (should VM choose to use it) should VM choose to use it.

I think you'll have to accept that prices come down and special offers are made from time to time. I was an early adopter of broadband, initially using my STB, but when I upgraded to 2Mb, which later became 10Mb, I was given a cable modem rather than a router. Not long after, VM were giving away routers with broadband subscriptions. I have a real need for a router now and may ask if they'll give me one but I doubt they will unless I'm upgrading to 20Mb or 50Mb.

I don't have a PVR yet but I am on XL so I think I can get a V+ box at no extra cost, if I install it myself. There is also a 'second room' deal for £5 a month where I can get a V+ box and keep the old V box too. However, there is a fee for cabling up the second room, if it's to be done properly from outside (I don't think I can split the signal any further inside the house).

I very much doubt a VM News channel TBH... VM have already said in the past that it would be too expensive to produce and there are already enough news channels.

I'm not sure I agree. Take the current situation with newspapers. If we didn't have so many of them, each using a different impartial  polling organization, we'd be reduced to one set of forecasts for the upcoming election. That could seriously influence how people vote!
