I wouldn't say mega slow, but I will try that and see if it gets faster.

Someone on the Elite forums posted the following tip, due to ED's CQC update being really bloody slow:

Change your Xbox One's DNS to Google's Public DNS!

https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/?hl=en

Go to Settings > Network > DNS, and set manual DNS entries of 8.8.8.8 for the primary and 8.8.4.4 for the secondary.

Then go to Alternate Mac Address > Clear and let the console reboot.

Afterward, you should hopefully find that your download speeds are more like they should be.

Downloading isn't too bad here but the installing takes bloody hours.

I can't change my DNS as already done that for using Netflix USA.

Yeah the downloading is not too bad, it is the installing or applying of updates that annoys me the most.

I read for disc installs we should disconnect from Xbox Live while installing, but not sure if it is possible to install digital games quicker.

My XBOne is using OpenDS, and so far downloads have been fine, installing on the other hand......

What makes me laugh though, it installs the apps just fine. But updates and games? Forget about it. Go and have a shower while waiting.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Well the apps are tiny and the games are maybe 40gig.

It is the installing that is the problem, if you go into the X1 network settings it tells you the download speed, still not great but it should be way more than 8mbit.

For Battlefield 4 owners with EA Access you can currently get the Naval Strike DLC for free until 3rd September.

Xbox One Elite Bundle

http://news.xbox.com/2015/08/xbox-one-elite-bundle

http://majornelson.com/2015/08/31/ne...ss-controller/

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/c...te-bundle/home

Xbox One + 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive + Elite Wireless Controller.

Launches in November for $499. No UK price yet, but the US price is the same as the 1TB Halo 5 bundle, which is £399 in the UK.

Given that you get a 1TB SSHD rather than a 1TB HDD, *and* you get an Elite controller (which itself is over £100 on its own), that's actually a pretty good price.

I was going to get the Elite controller anyway, and had been considering getting a new console, so I think I will probably just get this.

Just bought Mad Max, so hopefully will install tomorrow.

Shame it's only single player.

Is the next FIFA game due to be released in September sometime? Or should I wait a year for it to hit the EA Access?
