just because a player forces his foot to make contact isn't a penalty

unfortunately a lot of players are either cheats or matchstick men, falling down under slightess contact, not because of the contact

Exactly.

After a night of sleep and thinking about the Liverpool v Spurs, it made me wonder why so many footballers in this day and age to what they do to try and injure a player..

We should have seen two red cards in the game with Suasex and Adams, with Suasex, he should have seen red after the nasty kick on Parker, and then again with Adam and the double feet challenge.

I honestly think the referee Martin Oliver was inexperienced with this type of game, he allowed too many rough tackles to away with it.

To the diving aspects of the game, we must have technology in the game so that a fourth officials can tell the ref if it is a dive and then it should be a straight red.

We have too many players doing it, and getting away with it, but l think this won't happen to to the fact that players are spoilt like kids, When l was young, referees were tough, but allowed the game to flow, and this is what has happened, and players do it as they know if the ref is not tough, they will get away with it.

Other clubs would have dropped him ' as he could not concentrate on the game with full focus'. But what JT has been charged with is serious, and the whole matter has dragged on too long.

He has a history of problems with other players, and this respect campaign does not exist with the example that he carried on.

Even his club should drop him, but as fools as they are, are backing him to the hilt.

IF that was a member of the public, we would be in serious trouble, but a footballer is no different. The FA is a farce and they should have done this weeks ago, and in my book after the way he was stripped before, he should not have had the skipper band back again.

John Terry is not a player we should be proud of!

Isn't the last quote at odds with the previous ones - players used to kick lumps out of each other regularly and the game flowed because the referees let it happen.....Chopper Harris, Norman HUnter, Billy Bremner (in fact most of the Leeds team of that era ;) ), Souness, etc

I think what is missing is balance...stop the shirkers who dive or fall over from just a dirty look, equally ensure good players are protected. If that means after the game people get charged for doing either...then not a bad thing.

John Terry will not retire from international football despite losing the England captaincy, BBC Sport understands.

The Football Association informed the Chelsea defender, 31, he was losing the armband on Friday.

Terry is due to stand trial in July over racial abuse allegations after an incident with QPR's Anton Ferdinand.

But sources close to Terry have told the BBC he is not considering his international future.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish welcomed Luis Suarez back from a lengthy absence in the draw with Tottenham but again said he should never have served a ban.

Uruguayan Suarez returned as a substitute in the 0-0 stalemate after an eight-game ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

"It's fantastic to have him back. He should never have been out in the first place," said Dalglish.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has defended Fabio Capello's criticism of the Football Association's ousting of England captain John Terry.

Terry, 31, was stripped of the armband pending his trial in July over alleged racial abuse of QPR's Anton Ferdinand.

On Sunday, Capello said he "absolutely" did not agree with the decision.

Players' Union boss Gordon Taylor said England coach Capello's criticism was "bizarre" but Ferguson said: "There's nothing wrong with having an opinion."

Terry remains eligible for selection, despite losing the captaincy.

But Ferguson added: "I think what will happen in the next few days is there will have to be a coming together of the FA hierarchy and Fabio Capello because he's the team manager, he has the importance of that position.

As tension rises over the 30th anniversary of the war between Britain and Argentina over the Falkland Islands, the Argentinian government has named the upcoming football season in honour a naval ship sunk by British torpedoes in the conflict.

The season, which begins on Friday, will be the known as the Crucero General Belgrano Primera División or Cruiser General Belgrano First Division in English. Argentina lost 649 servicemen in the war, 323 of whom were crew members on the Belgrano.

The Argentinian government owns the rights to First Division matches and shows games on free-to-air TV.

D-day for Capello and many calling for his sacking. Capello should make a statement himself and simply stand down citing the fact he is the manager of the England National Team and apparently has no control regarding the management of the team itself. Of course I'm talking about The F.A stripping JT of his captaincy. I'm assuming next they wont allow him to be picked for the European Championship this year.

Of course the worst part of this is half the people couldn't care less whether or not he is a racist or guilty. They just simply don't like Terry and make it seem like they give a crap when really they would love nothing more than what is currently happening. Gordon Taylor and Co are doing an excellent job into making this a public circus where the masses can voice abuse at him day in day out. Terry, Barton etc. Its just a bandwagon people cant help but jump on :td:

This can only lead to the inevitable failure at Euro 2012 with all the negativity going on. I'm sure Rio could lead us this year! Shame he looks as average as a n inform Titus Bramble. If Terry's Guilty then thats that. If he's not I see the media kissing his arse like they never doubted him.

This is football now.

Scandals
Racism
Diving
Hilarious refereeing
A corrupt Governing body in FIFA and a Frenchman that hates the English as President of Uefa... Oh and Tax dodging English managers!

The FA has a image and moral problem with allowing someone facing trial for racist abuse captaining the side. It would have been too awkward to have him as captain at the Euros...

Yes very true Damien but what about innocent until being found guilty.
