The big question is what UHD is coming to the 4K TiVo box nearly a year since launch

Oh yeah? Well, where is Sky Sports UHD, BT Sport UHD and Sky Atlantic, for starters.

If Discovery won the premiership rights, things could change significantly!

So its now Discovery rather then Amazon now OB.;)

Oh Old Boy you do seem to live in complete fantasy land sometimes , withhold a Sports channel from the UK's biggest pay TV platform by some distance that would certainly lose them a shed load of viewers something they certainly wouldn't be able to afford if they'd outbid Sky.

Have you seen how much the current rights cost BT and Sky eye watering to say the least.

Indeed and they are only going to go higher.

It could be any one of the global players, Den, and that also includes Google and Netflix.

If you go through my old posts, Den, you will find that I've been saying this for some time now. I'm not sure why it was only Amazon that stuck in your mind.

They haven't, but it is companies like them that would be in the running.

There have been articles recently referring to these possibilities for the future, but my bet is on Amazon at the moment, with Discovery a close second.

But where is your substantiation of any proof that this is going to happen OB?.

Rehash's of old headlines with no concrete evidence at all that it will be anything other then the big two that will bid and win the big football rights.

I have already provided links to articles about this Den. There is no definitive 'proof' that this will happen, but reports are circulating of the interest being taken by these global companies in Britain's Premier League.

You could rubbish these reports as speculation if you want to close your mind to it, but Sky is certainly worried, which is what prompted the comment from them a few months ago that they would not pay just anything to retain these rights because it had to be a sensible financial proposition for them. From memory, I think they said they were re-focussing, which indicates to me that they are preparing for the worst.

I think things are beginning to change quite rapidly, and it's only a matter of time before another big company seizes the football baton from Sky. My view is that it could happen with the next rights bids, but it will almost certainly happen in the following round.

However, nothing is absolutely certain in this world regarding the future. The unexpected has a habit of proving you wrong!
