Maybe we have a fund raising concert for them?

The allowance being paid out to everyone regardless of income was clearly daft. Reform was long overdue.

That sums you up, insanely jealous of anyone with money ,that seems to be a theme running throughout labour, harm 10 million to get at 2 people who had the nerve to get rich off their talent

Should Sir Paul and Sir Elton get the winter fuel allowance? If so, please justify it, and why money should be diverted to affluent pensioners who don't need it, instead of the NHS and struggling young families.

Thing is the Tories would have probably had to do exactly the same thing if by some miracle they won the last election. Public finances and in tatters thanks to 14 years of destroying the country, so a few rich could get richer.

Anyway Sir Paul and Sir Elton and other pensioners are more than protected by the 'triple lock' which more than cancels the WFA loss. So that's all good (for them).

Young people today probably won't get any state pension. But are expected to fund current pensioners. It stinks tbh.

There is a difference between whether they "should" get it, and whether they "need" it.

If the rules say (or said) they should get it, then they should, thats what you have rules for.

If you think only people who "need" it should get it, then you need a system to base that on, which we have.
People who miss out based on such checks will always complain they "should" get it, no matter where you draw the line.

Do you have a link or is it just that you feel they have the skills to do this?

It's information from a family member who works in the NHS

Are they in the 1995/2008 Scheme and the 2015 Scheme?

I don't think it's news, it's something that happened in 2022.

Maybe a scheme to simply pay out to all pensioners is cheaper than a means tested system and all the bureaucracy needed to maintain that and the reports about how someone's granny has been denied the payment because <fill reason here> while someone gets it because <fill reason here>.

But we have to punish Elton and Paul McCartney to satisfy labours hatred of anyone with money, the mere fact that 10 million other pensioners are harmed is irrelevant to labour

I think if you asked them if they were being punished, they would laugh at you. :D
