Thing is the Tories would have probably had to do exactly the same thing if by some miracle they won the last election. Public finances and in tatters thanks to 14 years of destroying the country, so a few rich could get richer. Anyway Sir Paul and Sir Elton and other pensioners are more than protected by the 'triple lock' which more than cancels the WFA loss. So that's all good (for them). Young people today probably won't get any state pension. But are expected to fund current pensioners. It stinks tbh. |
Re: Starmer’s chronicles
There is a difference between whether they "should" get it, and whether they "need" it.
If the rules say (or said) they should get it, then they should, thats what you have rules for. If you think only people who "need" it should get it, then you need a system to base that on, which we have. People who miss out based on such checks will always complain they "should" get it, no matter where you draw the line. |

Re: Starmer’s chronicles
Maybe a scheme to simply pay out to all pensioners is cheaper than a means tested system and all the bureaucracy needed to maintain that and the reports about how someone's granny has been denied the payment because <fill reason here> while someone gets it because <fill reason here>.
