I totally agree with you 100%. Newcastle fans deserve better than simply surviving every season. Unless Mike Ashley goes though and is replaced with a owner with ambition Bruce will remain in charge I'm sorry to say Newcastle fans.

Being an owner with ambition won't get you far in the Premiership unless you're also an owner that can throw hundreds of £millions (of your own or 'investors' money) into competing for the top 5 spots.

Until the financial aspects are leveled out, most clubs will simply be making up the numbers with mid table mediocrity or fighting off relegation. Both of these scenarios are still rewarded with decent 'winnings' at the end of the season though . . which is a dream come true for those dodgy owners out there ;)

Sometimes a club will get lucky by having the right manager with the right tactics for the right players, but that often needs an owner (and fans) with patience and a lucky streak :D

The merry go round of failed managers doesn't help either

I sort of agree with you. Getting the right manager is vital of course but just as much is getting the right players in is also vital. I don't believe you have to spend 50 _80 million pounds to be a top 4 club just make the right signings plus have a very good youth policy. Far too many clubs spend millions on foreign players in the belief they're better than the British players which isn't always the case. I'm not anti foreign players by any means. I just feel far too often clubs buy them because they think fans want them. I hope Newcastle get it right sooner rather than later because once fans are allowed back into grounds there's not many grounds can rock like St James Park . And I say this as a Boro fan!

What an absolute disgrace that citeh can cry off from their match tonight without forfeiting it.

Very convenient for them in a busy spell of games.

The Premier League are not going forfeit matches though Julian as they never did that even in the first lockdown as according to the Premier League the decision to postpone was based on strong medical advice the Premier League received the Premier League in consultation with both clubs have decided to postpone the fixture.

If the game was called because of an outbreak of covid 19 at the city training ground shouldn't city's next 2 games also be called off like Sunderland games are?

Watching the Chelsea v Villa game, much better picture quality. Anyone else think the commentator (forget his name now) boobed when he said the Villa v Liverpool FA Cup game is live on BT Sport!

Unsure. I reckon it must be down to the amount of infected and whether they've managed to keep it isolated. We got a postponement a few weeks back but managed to isolate it and put a team out the following week.

I think the vast majority of us have accepted that survival will always be the goal under Ashley and that acceptance comes at the idea that the Saudi Arabia takeover over the club will eventually pass via arbitration. I'm too scared to think beyond that :D

The annoyance at the minute is down to Bruce and his negative ways. We're starting games hanging on for dear life from the first minute of the match. The goal not being to get something from the game but to lose by as few goals as possible. It's embarrassing to watch as a fan, it's equally as dismal to watch as a neutral. Pure Anti-football at the bottom level. Bruce's equivalent to what Mourinho serves up at every club he turns up at now.

Basically we'd care a lot less about losing to Man City if we at very least attempted to make a game of it. With Benitez, he'd set up defensively but drill the counter into the players. Pardew would just go for it. Bruce can't conjure up either.

Fairly grim when most of us would have Alan Pardew walk through the door in a heartbeat.

Only matches up to the 4th round must be forfeited so the match will have to be played at some point.

Absolutely.

I see Everton are demanding full disclosure on the decision to postpone.

At the beginning of the season the Premier league said as long as a team has 14 fit players the match should be played.

city seem to have been able to get the equivalent of a school sick note to avoid playing fixtures.
