With Sky set to double its UHD content this year, hopefully we will see some progress in this area on Virgin Media.

Has anyone heard about any big announcements from VM that may be just around the corner? There was a hint a little while back that we may be getting more streaming services and UHD on our screens this year, but I've not picked up anything since.

I've just seen an article on What Hi-FI?

They are reporting that the Sky Q box is getting a HDR update any day soon.

Hopefully VM will follow suit and rollout this update for the V6 too.

Yes, they should have done it already!

Virgin barely have HD channels let alone UHD.

There are only three that Virgin don't have and Sky do - that's Gold, E! and History. However, Virgin has three channels that Sky doesn't - Eden, H2 and ITV Be. So I'm not sure what prompted that comment.

Ignorance?

The top package is needed for most HD channels. Bit unfair in this day and age, particularly if you aren't interested in BT Sports where a large amount of the sub is going.

Note that the price did not go up to cater for BT Sport when the deal was done, so I don't understand that comment.

Well, there might be. I have been working on the assumption that some notable changes may occur this year, but I have nothing concrete to report just yet.

True. The assumption was based on a few things I read at the time which seemed credible, but nothing I would wish to quote as evidence.
