Hi BomberAF,

You do appear credible, but I'm sure you'll appreciate that there will always be a level of scepticism when apparently itk information is leaked on a public discussion forum. However, what you've said is, in my mind at least, corroborated by the recent announcement of Bt sports on the Virgin website which was subsequently pulled, and the recent story that Virgin and Sky were talking about Atlantic again.

I hope you won't mind me saying that some of your posts are lengthy, and a bit difficult to follow? I'd be grateful if you could clarify the following points so I know I've understood you correctly:

1. You are itk about sports media rights, and you know Bt sports is coming to Virgin on 1St August. (You've been clear about this point).

2. It will be included in xl, but the price of xl might go up to cover it. (I didn't fully understand what you wrote about what customers will have to pay).

3. A deal for Atlantic has also been agreed - do you know this bit, or are you making an educated guess? (Asked on the basis that you're itk about sports rights I'm wondering how you also know about this non sport channel).

Cheers in advance...

itk = in the know

I am pedantic about fully spelling out at first instance

In my company, you would hear "You are the weakest link, goodbye"

Could you please tell us also where and when this neck on the line will be so we can come and have a hack at it on August the 1st?
As I understand it the main stumbling block for Atlantic has always been the case that VM won't pay a premium for it because Sky won't promise that they won't sign up a load of content and launch another exclusive channel in the future.

In the past week I have seen some info - Nothing to do with Virgin - the info is about some channels broadcasters and I was also given an 'Do not post' order on this information.

Will reveal more when I can.

I don't believe BomberAF cause he is basically giving VM subscribers the dream line up.

He's apparently privvy to the sports deal, how I don't know, but somehow has information on a non-sports channel.

Also MB sounds intriguing!

I am also privy to little bit's of information that is not sports media rights, such as Sky Atlantic.

1st. Yes BT Sports are arriving on August 1st.

2. It will be included in the XL price as it was with ESPN. To be clear it may remain at the same price but you may also find your costs may go up by a pound or 2.

3. Atlantic has been agreed, the reason it wasn't originally a part of VM was because SKY were selling their product as a premium channel and VM as a compromise. They were using it to get people to move to sky, if you haven't moved yet you are not going to move. They are therefore giving it to VM as part of the XL package.

If your source of information is correct BomberAF this is great news

The reason for Atlantic not being on VM was because Sky was selling their product as a premium product and VM as a lower value product. Sky were trying to get people to leave and Join then but if you haven't left now you aren't going to. Therefore it will be part of the XL package.

Bad move on them, if they raise the price just for BT Sport ill be off, don't see the point in being forced to pay for a channel I will probably never really watch.

That is just me speculating so don't read anything into it, I would think that the price will stay the same.

I'm finding this really hard to believe if I'm honest ,

VM have added a mammoth amount of channels a fair few HD , they're going to add Sky Atlantic and BT Sport and include it all for the cost of XL if so were do I sign up ?

Its the BT Sport issue I'm struggling to believe needless to say lets just wait and see I'm happy to be proven wrong.

BomberAF 07-07-2013 12:25

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.

The reason I believe the price will stay the same is because BT will have to do a deal with VM. As a result of this VM can sell to VM customers a wholesale price, as VM will be able to guarantee BT X amount of customers and as such many many millions per year. BT cannot expect VM to carry their channel for nothing, or expect VM customers to pay more than non BT sky customers, so VM can make a profit. This would be unlawful, and a breach on competition laws. BT will get a subscription of every person that subscribes to the XL package but it won't be £12 or £15, it will be less. This will allow VM to make a profit as being a middle man or a broker in the deal.

If the price goes up by a pound or 2 then it may be down to the fact that VM have had to pay more for BT sports and have as such had their profit margin squeezed. It may be that VM decide they can charge more for their product.
