They are not supposed to, as long as you uninstall Windows 8 you should be able to roll back to Windows 7.

Tried it and phoned them, they said that it was part of the upgrade process and there is no going back.

You need to phone them up again and show them their own quote on their page as it clearly says you can go back.

What if I change my mind? Can I just go back to my old operating system?
Not exactly. The version of Windows that you had on your PC before you upgraded won’t be there anymore. To get it back, you'll need to reinstall the previous version of Windows from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC. Typically, this is on a DVD.

If you don’t have recovery media, you might be able to create it before you upgrade from a recovery partition on your PC using software provided by your PC manufacturer. Check the support section of your PC manufacturer’s website for more info. Be sure that you have this recovery disk before you upgrade, because after you install Windows 8, you won't be able to use the recovery partition to create a recovery disk. For more info on starting your PC from recovery media, see Boot from the media you created to install on another partition.

I have just been back on the phone to Microsoft and they say because i used windows 8 for more than 7 days i have lost the ability to roll back to my old key. I will be sending a letter and email to them in disgust. Last time i buy a new version of windows until at least a year has passed to iron out the crap.

I will be sending them a email and letter that will make it dam clear i want the ability to get my key back. Its not my fault there software does not work with COD4. I rolled back to windows 7 but the timer is running out. I was given a key by a friend but i really want my key back from microsoft and will stick to my guns till i get it. Unfortunately that means at the weekend i will have to reinstall crappy windows 8 so i have a working system.

What version of Windows 7 do you need a key for Sirius? I can send you a key for W7 Home Premium if that is any good to you?

You know i feel they are doing this because they have not sold as many copies as they wanted to.

Thanks for the offer Mark :tu:

No worries, I know for a fact I will not be going back to Windows 7, but only because the software, games and programs I want to use most are compatible with Windows 8. Can imagine it is pretty galling for those whose software, games and programs aren't compatible.

am I right that your only isuue with windows 8 is the fact you can not play COD4 because of a Punkbuster problem? That is an issue with punkbuster not windows 8 they need to fix it

I ghosted my windows install before I upgraded and I have recovered windows 7 and upgraded again 4 times without any issue at all

The wait a year is a good idea for those who lose their rag when things do not go right ;) My old man is worse than you I have told him he is not having it lol . All new OS's have teathing problems XP needed 2 service packs before it become the much loved OS that it did

indeed your correct however I need a system that works with the software I use and that includes cod4 , it works in windows 7 but does not work in windows 8. It's simple I need to use the version that works, now I could just use the key I was given by a friend buts that's Iliigal or I could use a hacked copy that's Iliigal. I want to use my legal copy but Microsoft have moved the goal posts. I will yet again be on the phone to them today but it's hard work as its an overseas call centre and the line quality is not good for me as I wear hearing aids.
