Glad it isnt just me that hasnt got update. I dont have that option so maybe it is locked by O2

That's weird, O2 generally don't brand or modify or even SIM lock their phones

my s2 was sim locked and had branding, my s3 wasnt from o2 direct and is sim free and i have no update

Must have been the early days then, last May when I was looking around to buy my S2 O2 told me it would be unbranded and unlocked - but I ended up getting it from an independent anyway. S3 was also through an independent (CPW) though it is rooted and slightly modified

Battery life has improvd, i no longer loose that inital 1% as soon as taken off charge. weather updates your location automaticlly now as well

i love this phone no issue with battery life fast as anything, the only thing that is starting to bug me is when im watching a film on it going to work the screen darkens a little bit.

Wait until you get Jellybean on it

Galaxy Nexus zooms, so i would expect S3 to be a rocket

Manual brightness control?

I use an app called Lux to override the built-in auto brightness anyway

Change the auto brightness in the settings in the video player.

Mine updated using the Kies software when I plugged it in.
Give that a go.
