Hi John_82,

Interesting about your Velocity 1 speed, of course the website doesn't make it very clear what upload speed you'll get there, but it's a little worrying to hear it is so low. Let us know if you get anywhere with it.

Hi all! First post so hope I get it right!

Message is really aimed at Paul from Fibrecity, I live on Anchor Road, Bournemouth, BH11 9HU, we had a letter some months ago from Fibrecity telling us that you were connecting the properties in our area.

All went well, the yellow lines were marked on the pavement to show yout guys where to dig and the connection box was fitted to the front of our property.

A couple of weeks later a team of contractors arrived in the area they dug up the pavements on literally all the roads around us installed the cable and then disappeared leaving Anchor Road untouched, other than for the yellow lines of course!!

This was weeks ago and there has been no sign of anyone from Fibrecity or their contractors since then.

Paul, I am concerned that our road has been missed/overlooked, can you look into this and let me know what is hapenning and when we are likely to be connected please.

There is a sense of deja vu here, when Nynex/Virgin installed cable into this area many years ago they too stopped installing only a street away from our area and never came back........hopefully Fibrecity are better than them??

@SwirlHow

Hi there, thanks for your message.

I will check this out with our project team for you. If the connection box was fitted to the outside wall then this street should be getting connected, indeed it is listed on all of our data and rollout plans so I see no reason why not.

I will send you a PM once I have spoken to our team to confirm everything for you. If you would like to PM me your full postal address I can enquire when your property will be completed for you.

I'll get right on the case for you.

John_82,

I was wondering if there has been any improvement on the speeds that you are getting from Velocity1? I hope so as when the installtion is completed here, I'm in a similar boat as, SwirlHow, I was thinking of going with Velocity1!

Re: [Merged] 100mbps for Bournemouth

Hi,

After about a week of using velocity one. I am still not seeing much improvement. I phoned them and they scheduled a time for one of their engineers to come around and look at the Set Top Box but they failed to show. So I am only using the Internet at the moment. I've done a speedtest which was recommended by Velocity and can still only get 2-4 Mb/ps Upload. The download is between 30 and 55 so far. I don't mind this, I mean it's still a lot faster than what I had before but I was told it would be 100. They also said that the boost thing doesn't work properly at the moment. I feel as though it's all a bit up in the air- but I'm not paying at the moment. I'm also wondering what to do with the two additional set top boxes that I have been given from Velocity.. surely they would want them back? Someone up the road from me is with Fibreband so I'll try and do a comparison sometime on the speeds.
I got offered a free trial from them so I might take that up and plug both in and see which is best...

Let me know when you guys get installed :)

John

damn, close but no cigar, 2 neighbouring cities.

I have sent them an email begging them to do my area, telling them its there for the taking with BT's attitude to it. VM also problematic round here so someone like fibrecity would have an easy time of it.

Those of you already with fibreband or velocity packages in Bournemouth, what hardware is needed to get wireless coverage in the house. Does either or both of the suppliers provide modem or modem/router? Do I have to buy a seperate router to get wireless?

thanks for your help

Hi,

Is there any news when the BH7 area might start getting this? I've read people get post about an install happening soon, but I've just received absolutely nothing.

Really wanting to get onto this asap as I'm getting tired of living 2KM away from the telephone exchange it Christchurch and just suffering from poor ~4meg speeds.

Ken

Ken1988, you might want to ask over at FibreForum they have members of Fibrecity and, even better, the mighty Fibreband answering questions over there.

NorViking, also probably worth a look over at Fibreforum for your question but I can tell you that you will have to buy your own wireless router to get wireless coverage. I use the Linksys WRT320N, which does the trick as it has four gig ports!

And the rollout partly stops for fibercity

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/4...urnemouth.html

Plans to lay fibre through the sewer system in Bournemouth have ground to a halt after Wessex Water refused to allow i3 Fibrecity (H2O Networks) to deploy using their patented FS System

Re: [Merged] 100mbps for Bournemouth

And it gets worse

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/4...-february.html

Users of the Fibrecity network in Bournemouth have been without a connection since the end of February when the firm, now owned by City Fibre Holdings, suspended access to it's retail broadband partners which include Velocity1 and Fibreband.

I wonder if FibrecityBmouth (Paul) will turn up again, letting us know everything is fine, not to worry, and he will check with the project team.........

Re: [Merged] 100mbps for Bournemouth

I doubt that, last I heard was there was only a small team left going around filling in holes left in the pavements from the installations with even the borough council also having to repair pavements as residents were complaining about the mess left behind.
