You were by claiming he wasn't the only one being nasty and luke Shaw had plenty to say on the matter although to be fair that could just be him trying to ingratiate himself with the fans after hardly setting the world on fire

No, defending him would be saying "There was nothing wrong with the tackle".

Pointing out that he wasn't the only 'nasty' player is, well, reality.

Personally I thought Luke Shaw had quite a decent game for his first run out after injury and with a totally new team.:)

The way the other West Ham players forcibly intervened with Sakho suggests they saw him do something a bit naughty as well.

He's certainly been cleared but if none of the officials saw it he'd in all likelihood get off. Either way I've still yet to see anyone defending Rooney, he's even admitted he went OTT.

This suggestion that Rooney could be a liability ignores that he has been dismissed only six times in 622 matches. In the interests of balance it also needs remembering that the tally could have been more: he was fortunate not to be sent off for a 2003 skirmish with Portsmouth’s Steve Stone, a clattering of Spain’s Iker Casillas and Carlos Marchena in 2004 and some filthy challenges on Northern Ireland’s Keith Gillespie and then Chris Baird in 2005. Rooney is not alone in occasional discipline; the best player presently on the planet, Cristiano Ronaldo, has seen red eight times.
Now don't you go bringing facts in to a good old fashioned anti-United rant!

Your not paying attention then, the man boy was doing just that and no the very fact no officials saw sakho do anything is the very reason a three man panel can look closely at it and then declare him innocent of wrong doing

I agree. It's hopeless changing managers when you've got a team that once again has the worst defence in the premier league and the bare minimum in attacking options. I'd like the also point fingers at the coaching staff, not every player that suddenly comes to Newcastle can just turn bad the way they have. Don't get me started on the injury front at Newcastle.

Only crowing after the devastating Moyes effect. Given how most of you wrote United off this season you'd expect us to be near the bottom.

It's just a bit early to crow. Most of the top teams have played each other at least once, in most cases twice, and until yesterday United hadn't played anyone who were in the top half of the table last season. You're crowing about only being three points behind City but they've had Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea already. Arsenal have had City, Chelsea and Spurs. Liverpool have had City and Spurs. Etc.

We're only 7 games in.

Exactly. No more games in Swansea! :D Seriously however the Premier League became a product a long time ago. If anyone still expects top-level football to be about the local fans rather than television and the global brand then this will help them wake up. You need to approach the Premier League for what it is, a commercial product for which you pay with your season ticket/subscription/shirt etc. I find the constant outrage every time the league suggests a plan to make money to be naive at best and disingenuous at worst.

Re: Football Season 2014/15

Ozil has clearly been struggling to make an impact in this side but Wenger hasn't dropped him yet, probably hoping he plays though the bad form as Ramsey eventually did. Maybe a 3 month spell out of the team will help him come back stronger and clear his head a bit. Midfield is a position we have considerable strength in and, given our run of fixtures eases a bit now, we should be able to accommodate his absence.

Personally I am hoping to see the Ox play in the middle for a extended spell. Cazorla and Wilshere will see more starts as well.

I'm worried about this so called rebuilding project. Firstly, I cannot believe how weak our qualifying group is. When you consider the quality of our opposition it is almost a scandal that this is a qualifying grouobfor a major international tournament. However, that aside, it means we will arrive at the euros without this rebuilt team ever having faced a serious competetive test. So with that in mind it seems that we have to find a way of creating that competetion from within. So why, I find myself asking, are we fielding such strong sides against the likes of San Marino at home? I don't think the first half on Thursday would have been quite as lacklustre if the team wasn't full of players who are fairly sure that they're a confirmed part of the project.

Tonight has been better, but arguably it's been the likes of Delph - players who are in and out of the team and playing for their shirts - who have performed.

Tongue was firmly in cheek. That was hard work and it needn't have been.

Well the only bonus was three points at the end of the day.

I thought that the Rooney goal, was an own goal off the keeper. And saved the blushes of England.
Yes, they may be top of the table. But they are going to face much stiffer teams, then they have so far.

I also believe that Hodgson should have been sacked, they need a new start with a new manager.

The team under Hodgson has been very low par in my view.

Don't you say that about every England manager after each loss or drawn game?

To be fair they've given him plenty of opportunities over the last few years

The result was better than Germany's but the German performance was excellent except for finishing 7-2 wouldn't have flattered them.
