Must say the TiVo looks better than Harmony BUT still ;)

Whole Home DVR

  • Watch recorded shows on any TV in the house – all from a single DVR.
  • Switch rooms and keep watching. Pause your recorded show in one room and resume watching it in another.

The rights holders of most UK channels are not allowing VM Tivo to Tivo MRS, so there is little chance of that being allowed in the UK at the moment. The limitation for these things is not with the Tivo box, but is because of moronic rights holders who can't see that limiting legitimate paying customers from unlimited device access is only encouraging things such as piracy. They are stupid.

I don't have an objection. Just they don't matter. Seemingly, people would be happy to see +2 and +3 channels launch as though it matters.

TBH sometimes +2 and +3 channels can come in handy mainly when a film has started an you have missed most of it on the +1 channel

Are people really turning to piracy in order to watch something in the den which they have legitimately recorded in the lounge? I'm sure they are when it comes to things like Atlantic, but for certain channels not yet available on MRS?

Fair enough, can't argue with that. Any channels that help others with their scheduling will be welcomed by me.

Lets hope those who have no use for them/ do not care for +1's get equally annoyed if we ever get Sky Atlantic +1:erm::)

Small print confirms ESPN is leaving the XL pack

Channel line ups are subject to change and from the end of July ESPN channels will no longer be included in TV XL, the Premiere or VIP Collections

Another Virgin Media cock-up like last weekend for BT Sport?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.

Ofcours another cock up, VM will never be able to afford to give it to XL subs, and that would make Sky much less attractive for sports fans.

Also, could VM buy exclusive rights to shows and only show them On Demand? Just a thought, it would be a nice USP against Sky/BT

Their website confirms this too. http://www.warnertv.com/

I hope VM can now add abc TV on demand to replace WarnerTV. It's already available through Talktalk And BT. NBC content seems to have disappeared too but should be returning if it's true that SyFy and Universal are due to be added in on demand.

I think/hope Virgin will have got E! HD and Universal HD as part of the NBC Universal deal the other month which saw The Style Network added but they want to add a lot of channels at once so they waited for the Viacom deal. Like when the only HD channel they had was BBC HD and then they added several HD channels at once from other providers

I'm guessing by the fact they're doing BBC Red Button HD they've finally been given the DTT HD slot by whoever controls the bandwidth, after the temporary lease of it to them for the Olympics.

That's the way this forum works, unfortunately, as VM are poor at announcing forthcoming channels. Media Boy pretty much keeps us going as best he can.

---------- Post added at 13:55 ---------- Previous post was at 13:51 ----------

Does anyone see any harm in VM agreeing a carriage deal for LoveFilm to expand their selection of On Demand content available to customers? Surely it's not in direct competition if it offers exclusive content as well as "shared" rights content, ie blockbusters, etc.

Personally I would be happy to add on £5 per month to my sub to get more quality on demand content. Surely it wasn't free for VM anyway, or if it was, then no wonder some providers are making alternative arrangements with the likes of NetFlix and Lovefilm.

No suggestion or disclaimer at all anywhere to highlight ESPN HD Sports are likely to drop out of the Premier Collection at the end of July. It's an 18 month deal that Virgin are offering in the letter. I think it's deceitful signing people up to an 18 months contract when one of the key features being advertised may be removed from the package within 2 months of the customer signing up. If it came totally out of the blue I'd understand however Virgin know exactly what is happening behind the scenes with ESPN.

Very poor from Virgin. To me it's not a million miles away from lying.

Just received the latest offers from Virgin. All references to ESPN have now been removed. Doesn't look like package prices are changing as a result of ESPN leaving XL.

I'm gonna go with Viacom channels added to TV Anywhere and possibly Sky Sports/Movies on the App.

If it was the android version they wouldn't of said to look at TV Anywhere, they'd probably of said that they have some TV Anywhere news.

Hopefully it's also a distraction for the launch of the remaining Viacoms, especially if TV Anywhere is having them, it would make sense!

Female skewing pay-TV network Lifetime is expected to make its UK debut in the fourth quarter of the year, as parent company A+E Networks UK enters the final stages of its launch plan.

A+E Networks UK is currently in carriage negotiations with both satellite platform Sky and cable operator Virgin Media.

It is understood that the broadcaster, which is a joint venture between the US cable group and Sky, is considering using Bio’s EPG slot to give it a strong position on the platforms.

Bio currently sits on 156 on Sky and 242 on Virgin Media.

The only problem is Android don't have ad free versions of Words With Friends and Hanging With Friends:(. I think the worst the OS I have used is Nokia's OVI system. Those offers that "hd free, multiroom free, sky charge" is all relative when the cost of tv on sky is cheaper in first place.

Haha, no I'm an EE customer but I still think they should support Windows Phone since they sell it! They've not even made 'Your Account' apps either so I'm not holding my breath haha. Personally I think Windows Phone 8 is actually better and more user friendly than iOS and Android but app developers will go where they have the most outreach. I find it funny how the Anywhere app is on iOS first considering VM don't even sell the iPhone or iPad. At least I can use the 3rd party TiVo remote apps in the Windows Store so it's not all bad :p:

Don't really need an 'app' http://m.virginmedia.com/account is exactly the same information as the Android / iOS apps, and works on any phone

This is why I don't get the whole app thing at all. Rather than have to develop and maintain different apps for each platform, just have a decent mobile HTML site that will then work on all devices.

NEW CHANNELS ON TV ANYWHERE

Quote:

ITV Channels , Comedy Central , History , H2 , CI and Bio have been added to TV Anywhere.
Apparently since this was posted on DS, Comedy Central has since been removed.

Ofcom confirmed that 'Drama' will be on Sky and maybe Virgin TV.

http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/tv-bro...updates/052013

I still think that UKTV will axe Blighty for Drama to launch.

Virgin Media moves B4U Music to M+ package.

An Virgin insider has confirmed to me that B4U Music is now broadcasting on the M+, L and XL Packages on Virgin Channel 816.

hmmm, If the ITV channels have just been addd to the TV Anywhere service, surely it means that VM have just signed some sort of a new or revised contract with them.

If so, wonder if there is any chance they also got MRS rights agreed at the same time [Crosses fingers and hopes......., but doesnt hold breath!]

The ITV deal was signed when ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD launch on Virgin

Ahh, thanks MB

Dissapointing that they couldnt get them added then, seeing as other new channel launches have launched with MRS they are obviously trying to add them at each contract renewal, can only assume then that ITV must have flat out refused.

Really annoyed with ITV if this is the case - hope they are'nt trying to play the 'no need to allow you to do this, all your customers can use out catch up service' card, as this is so not the same thing!

Ho hum - back to waiting for anything usefull to be added to MRS, and will now hand this thread back to specualtion on what new channels will launch shortly! ;)

I have an android phone and the ad free version of words with friends. Without posting a link, I will tell you that there are certain android forums that people post links under the 'games' section which take you to an upload site which allows you to download the ad free versions of games. I'm not going to promote it as i know it's illegal, I'm just saying that some people do it ;)

Just saw an advert on TV for XL On Demand advertising for a new show on Universal Channel, at the bottom it had the Virgin channel number (but not the Sky one) and it said Universal HD at the end?

Don't know if that means anything.

Universal, but it only contained Virgin details, no sky channel numbers or even a web address for Universal

Nope, it was pre-roll in front of an item on Discovery On Demand.

Virgin manage the pre-roll for all OD except 4OD and Catch Up so they must of seen it...

Doesn't come much clearer than that! It would have to be an all mighty mistake if Universal HD isn't coming. Could it be that Universal HD on demand is coming rather than the channel?

Not too many missing HD channels for Virgin to get now. Virgin have got their game together, in terms of HD, in the past 6 months.

P.S. Thanks for the snap

I bet the Universal HD advert is another VirginMedia blunder a la the BT Sport webpage and SS1&2HD wrongly placed as part of the XL package on another webpage...
